January marks the temporary closing of The Porch

The Porch will be closing in January for a grand renovation and a version 2 comeback according to a Dallas Morning News article. They say,

“Dallas brunch spot The Porch is closing temporarily in January 2023 for its first major makeover in 15 years.

On Jan. 9, 2023, the Henderson Avenue restaurant is expected to close completely for about four weeks while the restaurant seats are redesigned and repositioned. When it reopens, the interior will be washed in two tones of green and the bar will feel like a more distinct area of the restaurant, says Jeny Bania, chief marketing officer for Headington Companies, which owns The Porch.

The restaurant was one of the “red hot” restaurants that opened in the late 2000s during the reinvention of Henderson Avenue in Dallas. In its earliest years, a Dallas Morning News critic called it a “comfort food extravaganza” restaurant that went big on drinks at brunch and was a “madhouse” back when it didn’t take reservations

“If we’re staying, we’ve got to reinvest in the people and the place,” Bania says. She calls the 2023 reboot “Chapter 2″ for The Porch.”

The Porch is primarily known for their signature cocktails but during the closure, they will focus on refining their drinks. However, their menu will likely stay such as the following:

  • SHORT RIB STROGANOFF

  • CHICKEN FRIED STEAK

  • SCOTTISH SALMON
  • STEAK FRITES

  • REAL DEAL CHEESEBURGER

  • THE STODG BURGER

  • SALMON BURGER

  • SOUTHERN SPICY CRISPY CHICKEN

  • THREE-CHEESE GRILLED CHEESE

Accordingly, The Porch had just finished signing their lease contract which will extend for 15 more years.
