Dental exams

During a dental exam, our dentist will look for any signs that the patient may be experiencing pain or discomfort. We’ll also check the teeth for any signs that they may need to be treated. We will also check for other issues that could affect the patient’s dental health.

We will examine the patient’s mouth and look for signs of gum disease. Gum disease can cause many health problems and even lead to tooth loss. This is vital because it can cause other health issues. We do this by placing a periodontal probe in between each of the patient’s teeth and feeling how deep it goes. This gives us an indication of how much gum tissue has been removed between the teeth. We will also be looking for signs of bleeding or inflammation.

To check if the patient has a problem with their jaw, we will place the mirror on top of the patient’s mouth and move the mirror around to get a complete view of the inside and teeth. We want to check that their teeth and muscles are in good health.

There are many reasons why we may take radiographs or X-rays, but the main reason is to check for decay in the back of your mouth. This can cause pain if it’s not found early on. You may also discover cavities close to your gum line. This needs to be treated as soon as possible to avoid a larger problem.

Children’s dentist

Teeth decay and cavities in children can happen at any age. Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental recommends that your child’s first visit is made when they are at least 18 months of age. This will allow us to check for any structural or overbite problems. If your child is well taken after, their primary teeth may last a lifetime. Therefore, we recommend that they visit us at least twice each year to ensure that there are no major problems.

We will make sure your child feels secure and at ease before our team of skilled dental professionals begins the adolescent dental examination. We will communicate with your child during the appointment to explain everything and allow them to take part in the process. We will assist them in relaxing in one our comfy treatment seats. The basic oral exam will be followed by an xray.

After that, we will speak with you about the dental health of your child and make recommendations on how to maintain their remaining teeth.

We recommend that your child establish healthy habits early on. They will help ensure that his or her teeth stay strong and prevent any problems later. A fluoride treatment or dental sealants may be advised to protect the teeth as your child grows older. If we detect a problem, we will develop a customized treatment plan that ensures your child’s safety and comfort. We will accommodate any special requests such as music playing during an appointment or providing a child-friendly distraction.

We love seeing your smiling faces and look forward to seeing them in the future.

Teeth Cleanings

A dental hygienist is a professional who cleans teeth, scales and polishes patients’ teeth, and removes plaque and calculus.

Dental hygienists must be in close contact to patients. They are responsible in cleaning teeth.

We use different tools and water sprays to clean the teeth of our patients. Sometimes, we also use special toothpaste. Many types of instruments include brushes, drills, and scrapers. They also polish patients’ teeth using special polishing products and disks. Before polishing and scaling can be started, it’s important to eliminate all plaque and calculus.

We use the most modern hygienic equipment for faster, more comfortable cleanings. We use an ultrasonic cleaner that uses high speed vibrations and a spray of lubricating fluid to gently remove the debris. A curette or scaler are hand-held instruments that can be used to remove small pieces of plaque. For optimal dental health, a dental hygienist may recommend you return every six months for teeth cleaning.

In order to prevent gum diseases, the dental hygienist must clean out tartar and plaque off patients’ teeth. The patient could suffer from gum disease and tooth decay if they do not perform this treatment regularly. We do our best to make regular visits to the dentist as simple as possible for all members of the family.

Wisdom tooth extraction

Wisdom tooth extraction is the removal of one or several wisdom teeth. They are also known as permanent adult tooth. A wisdom tooth can be removed by an oral surgeon or dentist.

Oral surgeons and dentists recommend wisdom tooth extraction, even if the impacted teeth aren’t causing any problems. This is to prevent future complications. It is possible to predict problems by having regular checkups or x-rays.

Wisdom tooth extraction is a surgery to remove a wisdom or ‘wisdom tooth’ due to complications such:

  • Impacted wisdom tooth

  • Angled towards the adjacent tooth or back of your jaw

  • Immobilized in the jaw bone

  • It becomes a source for pain

  • Periodontal disease may develop.

  • Causes decay in neighboring tooth due to trapped food

  • Development of cysts around wisdom tooth

  • Interferes with orthodontic treatment

Most patients receive a local anesthetic to numb their area and a sedative for relaxation to relieve any pain.

Oral sedation may be recommended for patients who are anxious in rare instances.

If the procedure is straightforward, you can return home the same day. But you will need to have someone drive you and be there for 24 hours.

After your wisdom teeth extraction, you should be able return to work within a day. However, strenuous activities should be avoided for at least two to three days.

Many dental practices can remove wisdom teeth but in cases where the wisdom tooth or teeth are moderately impacted, you may need an oral surgeon. Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental also has an excellent oral surgeon, so there is no need to have your case referred.

Laser Dentistry

Dental lasers are used to treat a variety of oral conditions. Clinical dental practice adopted it commercially in 1989 for treatments on tooth tissue.

Laser dentistry might be more convenient than traditional drills and other equipment.

The two main types of procedures used for laser dentistry are hard tissue and soft tissue procedures. Hard tissue refers to the teeth, and soft tissue refers to the gums. Lasers can be used to cut (ablation), vaporize (excited plasma) or remove decay. The laser energy is quickly absorbed by water and evaporated when it’s applied to gums.

At first dentists only treated hard tissues because it was believed lasers couldn’t be used on soft tissue. Laser dentistry has been around since the early days, but it was not used for gum treatment until recent years.

Scientists have discovered that the wavelengths at which lasers absorb the most energy are dependent on the tissue and application. The wavelengths in nm can be used to determine which laser is appropriate for a given application. In this respect, there are many different types of Lasers.

With soft tissue lasers, there is a lesser requirement for sutures. Bleeding is reduced in treated soft tissues as the laser stimulates blood clotting. With some treatments, anesthesia isn’t necessary. The laser’s ability to reduce bacteria means that there are fewer chances of getting bacterial infection. Lasers are faster at healing wounds and can promote tissue regeneration. These procedures are less painful than traditional treatments.

There are certain disadvantages associated with soft tissue procedures. The light from the laser is absorbed by water within the cells. This causes them to evaporate quickly, leading to pain and decreased elasticity of the gum tissue. Remember that laser light is only used to treat hard tissue procedures. Stray beams can cause damage to the surrounding tissues in soft tissue procedures.

Tooth White Fillings

There are other options available today, including platinum, which is a better choice than gold and silver fillings. The amalgam fillings are a high-strength and natural-looking alternative to silver or gold. They can also be used as composite resins fillers.

Today’s preferred filling material is composite fillings. They’re designed to blend in with your teeth’s natural color and are secured to the tooth using a bonding agent that prevents them from falling off. Composite fillings have a higher durability rating than gold or silver.

Composite resin is used to make white fillings. It can easily be color-matched with your natural teeth, so it’s almost invisible. Composite tooth-colored restorations are bonded to the tooth instead of sitting on top of it, like gold and silver fillings. You are far less likely to have a composite filling fall out, which can be a problem with gold fillings. Tooth-colored fillings can be more easily detected than silver. They are more durable, less likely break or crack and they are virtually invisible.

Since composite tooth-colored filling material remains bonded to the tooth it is fixed into, your oral health does not depend upon the adhesive joining of two dissimilar materials. This allows for stronger and more durable fillings than with other types.

Tooth colored fillings may also be used for the restoration of broken-down and fractured molars. Tooth-colored filling material can be used to repair a fractured tooth and restore your chewing ability.

Ceramic materials are used in crowns to create tooth colored fillings. They have the same compressive strength and color as enamel. They bond well to both composite resin and tooth enamel, and are also strong.

Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental is available to help determine if you are a candidate for composite-resin fillings. This is a modern filling that we offer in our A.W. Perry office.

Sedation dentistry

A dentist can complete complex procedures like dental crowns and bridges with ease by using sedation dentistry. It involves putting the patient to sleep using medication.

Minimal Sedation can be described as the lowest level of sedation. This ranges from almost unconscious to a state that is similar to being awake. It is used by the patient to allow them to feel comfortable and relax. It’s primary purpose is to ease any fear that the patient may have, and in order to achieve this aim, nitrous oxide (or laughing gas) is administered by breathing through a mask or face piece similar in appearance to a clear plastic bag.

Moderate sedation is designed to induce relaxation and sleep during dental treatments. This combination is sometimes combined with Nitrous Oxide (or laughter gas). However, this medication may be administered intravenously by drip in the arm or via injection.

Deep Sedation leaves the patient unaware of the situation and must be closely monitored by staff. This level of sedation is usually used in trauma cases or for extensive surgical procedures.

Anaesthesia, the most powerful form of dental sedation, does not allow the patient to feel pain at all, leaving them completely unaware of what’s going on. The patient cannot move and must be continuously monitored by trained staff. This type of sedation should only be used for serious dental treatments such as extractions of many teeth, complex oral surgery, or extensive root canal work. You will need to be monitored for a longer time if you are using this type of sedation.

Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental has all levels sedation dentistry available in A.W. Perry.

Root canal treatment

Endodontic treatment, also known as a root canal, is a procedure that involves saving a diseased tooth by eradicating the infection and preventing further harm. When you have a toothache, the first thing people do is take painkillers. This is not the best thing for you. In fact, long-term use of antiinflammatory medication can cause damage to your kidneys.

Root canal treatment eliminates the infection. This is a straightforward procedure that may require several visits.

An endodontist performs endodontic treatment in two to three sessions. You will not feel any pain when we apply local anesthesia. Dental x-rays can be used to identify the problem tooth.

We will clean and seal your tooth to keep germs out. The tooth will be filled with composite. To provide protection, a dental Crown may be necessary in some instances.

Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental has been providing endodontic treatments for patients in or around A.W. Perry for years.

Crowns and Bridges

A crown is a restoration technique that strengthens or improves teeth. A crown is simply a cap that’s applied to a tooth in order restore its size, strength, form, and appearance.

Dental crowns are made of a variety materials like ceramics and porcelain as well as stainless steel and precious metals. The amount of decay and physical properties of the material determine which material is used. The material options for crowns vary depending on whether they are full ceramic or porcelain.

Porcelain crowns are often used to cover teeth that have undergone root canals or large restorations. They can also be used to cover teeth that have been damaged by cracks or chips. Patients looking for aesthetic restorations will often prefer porcelain crowns because they are more used to treat a damaged tooth than to strengthen it.

A dental crown can replace the old filling material, and it will strengthen your tooth by protecting it against future damage. This is a great option for people who have had to have a root canal done and want to avoid further work. Crowns are also able to be used on cosmetic or damaged teeth due to cracks or chips.

A dental crown, or inlay, may be suitable to anyone, even children. It’s painless. The impressions taken by you will be used to create a crown which can be fitted after one week. A temporary crown may be made while the permanent one is being constructed.

The dentist might recommend a bridge if a tooth is too damaged to be crowned. A bridge can help you replace missing or damaged teeth, correct facial structure, and improve your bite. There are many types of bridges. They all consist of crowns that are placed on either side or both of the missing teeth. A “pontic”, also called an abutment tooth, is placed between the anchoring and false teeth. The dentist also makes these false teeth in his office.

The bridge is used to replace each tooth on either side of the space where one or more teeth are missing. Bridges may be used after you’ve had any remaining teeth removed (such a during a dentist’s implant procedure) or after your teeth have been lost due to periodontal disease.

Dental implants

A dental implant, a surgical fixture, is an insert that is inserted into a jawbone. This is allowed to connect with bone over a period of time. Dental implants act as a replacement for the tooth root that has been lost. This “artificial teeth root” is used to support a bridge or replacement tooth.

A dental implant attached to the jawbone can stand alone on its own, and it has great stability. “Osseointegration,” also known as the integration or fusion of dental implants with jawbones, is a term that describes the process of integrating dental implants with jawbones.

Most dental implants are made of titanium. This allows them to be integrated into the body and not be recognized as foreign objects. Over time, technology and studies have made it possible to greatly improve the results of dental implant placement.

Implants may be used for the replacement of one, several, or all teeth. Dentistry’s goal is to replace teeth that are functional and beautiful.

Dental implants are the best treatment option for individuals who have lost teeth, or cannot engage in healthy oral care due to missing or extracted teeth.

Many dentists near A.W. Perry offer dental implants. Implants are not all created equal.

PubMed.gov lists more than 220 brands of implant, from around 80 manufacturers. Different materials are used to make implants. The surface treatments vary and the shapes and sizes of the implants can be different. The dentist may choose from over 2000 implants for any given patient. Implants made of titanium or titanium alloys perform clinically well in surgically prepared bone. There are many surface treatments that can be used to enhance the speed of anchorage. A large number of manufacturers’ claims regarding superiority due to design characteristics do not reflect sound clinical scientific research. Some implants are manufactured in certain parts of the world without any evidence of conforming to international standards.

Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental ensures that you have the best possible quality in implant technology. Call us to make an appointment and find out if implants are right fit for you.

Dentures

Based on the case, dentures can be partial or full and are generally more affordable than implants.

The devices used to replace missing or damaged teeth are called dentures. These are removable appliances that support and change the shape or color of your gums, lips, and mouth.

To keep dentures in place, healthy gums are essential. A bridge is a fixed solution to replace missing teeth. Implants or dentures can be used to replace missing teeth.

Different types of dentures include:

* Traditional complete full dentures

* Partial dentures

* Custom dentures

* Intermediate (between partial and full) denture

* Snap-in dentures

* Snap-on dentures

* Overdentures that can be used with dental implants. [1]

Traditional full denture: This is the most durable and cost-effective type of full denture.

It is taken by your dentist using an impression of your teeth and gums on each side.

The roof, or palate, is constructed with a metal framework which supports the wire clasps.

Partial denture – A partial denture is one that only some of your teeth have been removed.

Partial dentures are held in place by clasps that attach to the remaining teeth.

It’s worn most of the time as an orthodontic retainer. But, sometimes, it can be taken out at night and while you eat.

A custom denture can be made by taking an impression from your upper or lower jaw using a special materials.

It is designed to fit snugly and comfortably, unlike a regular denture.

Snap-in or snap-in dentures: Snaps-in dentures work by using suction.

They can be considered a “no prep” alternative to traditional dental dentures because they do not require relining.

Your dentist will make your snap-in dentures in a dental lab by taking a plaster model of your jaw and gums, then fitting the denture inside your mouth to make sure it’s a perfect fit.

After you learn how to adjust and insert the denture yourself, you won’t need to go back to your dentist for adjustments.

Overdentures are a partial denture that can be “fixed” and attached to dental implant support.

Because it rests on top, implants, an implant-supported denture will usually provide a more secure fit than other types.

An implant-supported, overdenture is made of two parts. The metal frame snaps onto the dental posts and the replacement tooth or teeth are attached to it.

Overdentures are often made in a dentist’s lab. Here, technicians create models (molds of your gums and jaw) to make the device.

Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental, a leading provider of dentures near A.W. Perry, is the best. We’ll work together with you to find the perfect combination of functionality, looks, and affordability for your dentures.
