Dental exams

During a dentist exam, we will check for any signs that a patient might be suffering from pain or discomfort. Our dentist will examine your teeth to determine if there are any problems. We will also examine the patient for any other problems that might affect their oral health.

In addition to the patient’s teeth, we will also look for any signs that show problems with the patient’s gums. Gum disease may lead to other health issues, including tooth loss. The procedure involves placing a probe into the gums between each tooth to determine how deep it is. This will allow us to see how much gum tissue is still between each tooth. We also check for inflammation and bleeding.

To see if the patient’s jaw is in trouble, we will put a mouth mirror on top. We will then move it around so that we have a clear view inside the mouth. We want to make sure that their teeth are staying healthy and the muscles around them are not causing any problems.

There are many reasons why we may take radiographs or X-rays, but the main reason is to check for decay in the back of your mouth. If not caught early, this could cause pain. There may also be cavities near the gum line, which should be treated immediately to avoid further damage.

Children’s dentistry

Children can have tooth decay and cavities at any age, even as soon as two years old. Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental suggests that children bring their child in for their first appointment when they’re 18 months or younger to ensure that there aren’t any overbite or structural issues. Your child’s first teeth could last a lifetime, if properly maintained and treated. We recommend that they be seen at least twice annually to make sure they don’t have any serious issues.

Before our skilled team of dental professionals begins the adolescent examination, we will make sure that your child feels at ease. We will talk to your child throughout the appointment, explaining what is happening and how they can take part in it. We will assist them in relaxing in one our comfy treatment seats. After a basic exam, an x-ray will be taken.

After that, we will speak with you about the dental health of your child and make recommendations on how to maintain their remaining teeth.

We recommend that you establish healthy habits as soon as possible. This will help to ensure your child’s teeth are strong and free from any potential problems. Your child may benefit from dental sealants and fluoride treatment. If our staff detects a problem, we’ll develop a customized cure plan that takes your kid’s greatest care and comfort into account. We will accommodate any special requests such as music playing during an appointment or providing a child-friendly distraction.

We love to see the smiles on your kids’ faces when they visit our office. We look forward to helping them stay healthy for many years!

Teeth Cleanings

A dental hygienist is a professional who cleans teeth, scales and polishes patients’ teeth, and removes plaque and calculus.

Dental hygienists work closely with patients. Because they are responsible for cleaning the teeth, they need to be very familiar with their work.

We clean patients’ teeth using different types of tools and water sprays. Some may even use special toothpaste. Many types of instruments include brushes, drills, and scrapers. They polish patient’s teeth using special polishing solution or disks. It is very important to remove all plaque and calculus from patient’s teeth before they can start scaling and polishing.

The most recent hygienic tools are used for more efficient and comfortable cleaning. For example, an ultrasonic cleaning device we use employs high-speed vibrations and a lubricating spray to gently remove debris. Smaller pieces of plaque can be removed with handheld instruments such as a scaler or curette. For optimal dental health, a dental hygienist may recommend you return every six months for teeth cleaning.

Gum disease is preventable by dental hygienists removing tartar and plaque from patient teeth. Patients who don’t have regular dental visits may experience gum disease or tooth decay. We do our best to make regular visits to the dentist as simple as possible for all members of the family.

Wisdom tooth extraction

Wisdom tooth extraction refers to the surgical removal one or more wisdom teeth. These are permanent adult teeth that rest at the back end of your mouth. A wisdom tooth extraction can be performed by either an oral surgeon, dentist, or both.

Some dentists and oral surgeons advocate wisdom tooth extraction even if impacted teeth don’t currently cause issues as a method to avoid future difficulties. Regular checkups are important to detect potential problems and allow for x-rays.

A wisdom tooth extraction is a surgical procedure for the removal of a ‘wisdom’ tooth due to various complications such as:

  • Wisdom teeth that have been impacted

  • Angled toward neighboring teeth or the back of the jaw

  • Stuck in the jawbone

  • Becomes a cause of pain

  • Periodontal disease can result.

  • Because of trapped food, decay can occur in neighboring teeth.

  • Cyst formation around the wisdom tooth

  • Interferes With Orthodontic Treatment

In most cases, patients are given a local painkiller to numb the area as well as a sedative that relaxes them to reduce any discomfort.

Oral sedation is sometimes recommended in cases of extreme anxiety.

If it’s not too complicated, you can go home the same night as your wisdom tooth extraction. However you’ll need someone who will drive you and stay with that person for 24hrs.

Your wisdom tooth extraction should allow you to return to work on the same day, however strenuous activities should be avoided over the next two to three days.

There are many dentists that can remove wisdom. However, if the wisdom tooth or other teeth are severely impacted, an oral surgeon may be required. At Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental, our dentist is also a top oral surgeon so you will not need to be referred out.

Laser Dentistry

The use of lasers for treating a variety oral diseases is known as dental lasers. Clinical dental practice adopted it commercially in 1989 for treatments on tooth tissue.

Laser dentistry can be more comfortable than non-laser equipment and drills for treating a wide range of hard and soft tissue conditions.

Two main types are used in laser dentistry: hard tissue procedures and soft tissue procedures. Hard tissue refers specifically to the teeth while soft tissue refers primarily to the gums. When lasers are applied to the teeth, they can be used for cutting (ablation), vaporizing (excited plasma), or removing decay. The laser energy is rapidly absorbed by the water in the cells when it is applied to gums.

Because lasers were not able to treat soft tissue, the dentists initially only treated hard tissue. Laser dentistry has been around since the early days, but it was not used for gum treatment until recent years.

Scientists have found that the highest absorption wavelengths of lasers vary for different tissues and applications. You can use the wavelengths in nm to determine which laser is suitable for your application. In this respect, there are many different types of Lasers.

There is less need for sutures with soft tissue lasers. Treatments of soft tissue lasers reduce bleeding because the laser stimulates clotting. In some cases, anesthesia may not even be required. Laser’s antibacterial effects reduce the chance of developing bacterial infections. The laser’s antibacterial effect speeds up wound healing and allows for tissue regeneration. These procedures are less painful than traditional treatments.

There are disadvantages to soft tissue procedures. Laser light is absorbed quickly by water in cells. This causes the cells to evaporate rapidly. This can cause pain and dehydration of the gum tissues. Another factor to consider is that with hard tissue procedures, the laser is only applied to the tooth being worked on. Stray beams can cause damage to the surrounding tissues in soft tissue procedures.

Tooth White Fillings

There are other options available today, including platinum, which is a better choice than gold and silver fillings. Instead of silver or gold fillings, you can place the natural-looking and high-strength amalgam fillings. Also known as composite resin fillers.

Composite fillings today are the most preferred type of filling material. They’re designed to blend in with your teeth’s natural color and are secured to the tooth using a bonding agent that prevents them from falling off. Composite fillings are preferred over silver or gold because they last longer.

White fillings can be made of high-strength, composite resin and can easily match your natural tooth color. This makes them virtually invisible. Composite tooth-colored restorations are bonded to the tooth instead of sitting on top of it, like gold and silver fillings. Composite fillings are less likely to fall out than gold fillings. Tooth-colored fillings can be more easily detected than silver. They are more durable, less likely break or crack and they are virtually invisible.

Composite tooth-colored fillings are bonded to the tooth they are attached to, so your oral health is not affected by the adhesive joining of dissimilar materials. This allows for greater strength, durability, and stability than other types of fillings.

Tooth colored fillings may also be used for the restoration of broken-down and fractured molars. Tooth colored fillings can restore fractured molars and are therefore better for restoring chewing ability.

Ceramic materials are used in crowns to create tooth colored fillings. They have the same compressive strength and color as enamel. They are strong and can bond well to tooth enamel as well as to composite resin.

Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental will assess your eligibility for composite resin fillings. This is a modern filling that we offer in our Carrollton Summertree office.

Sedation dentistry

Sedation dentistry allows your dentist to complete any complicated dental procedure without difficulty. This involves putting the patient in a sleep-like state using medication. It is also known by sleep dentistry.

Minimal Sedation refers to the simplest level of sedation. It can range from being awake to almost unconscious. It is used by the patient to allow them to feel comfortable and relax. Its primary purpose is the relief of fear. Nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, is administered through a mask or facepiece that looks similar to a clear bag.

Moderate sedation is intended to produce a relaxed state and sleep during dental treatment. It may be combined with Nitrous Oxide, or laughing gas. You can get this level of sedation by injecting the medication or intravenously using a drip under your arm.

Deep Sedation results in the patient being completely unaware of all that is happening. This must be continuously monitored by trained staff. This level of sedation can be used in cases of trauma or extensive surgical procedures.

Anaesthesia, the most powerful type of dental sedation allows the patient to not feel pain, and they are completely unaware of the situation. The patient is completely immobile and needs to be constantly monitored by trained staff. This method is only used for more serious procedures, such as extensive root canal treatment, complicated oral surgery, and the removal of large amounts of teeth. This type of sedation is more intense than other forms and requires that you remain in the dental clinic while being monitored.

Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental has all levels sedation dentistry available in Carrollton Summertree.

Root canal treatment

Endodontic treatment (also known as a root-canal) is a procedure to save a tooth from further damage and infection. Most people take painkillers to relieve a toothache. This doesn’t actually help, and taking anti-inflammatory medication long term can be bad for your kidneys and doesn’t address the real issue.

Root canal treatment eliminates the infection. Although it is a simple procedure, it may take several sessions.

Endodontic treatment can be performed in as little as two to three sessions. To ensure that you don’t feel any discomfort, we use local anesthesia. Dental xrays can help to diagnose the tooth that is infected.

We will clean and seal your tooth to keep germs out. The tooth is then filled with composite. To provide protection, a dental Crown may be necessary in some instances.

Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental is a dentist who has provided endodontic care for patients in and around Carrollton Summertree over the years.

Crowns and Bridges

A crown can be used to strengthen teeth or improve their appearance. It’s essentially a cap that’s used to cover a tooth in order to restore its size, strength, and form while also enhancing its appearance.

Dental crowns are available in a variety of materials, including ceramics, porcelain, resin, stainless steel, and precious metals like gold. The degree of decay on the tooth and its physical properties determine the material to be used. Your needs may dictate whether crowns are made of full ceramic or porcelain.

Porcelain restorations and root canals can often be covered with porcelain crowns. They can also be used to cover teeth that have been damaged by cracks or chips. Porcelain crowns are more commonly requested by patients who desire an aesthetic restoration, since they are used to strengthen a tooth and not repair it.

A dental crown will replace any old filling material. Your tooth will be stronger because it is protected against further damage. Individuals who have had a root-canal procedure and wish to avoid more extensive work in the future may find this a good option. Crowns can be used to repair or replace cosmetic teeth that are damaged or compromised by chips or cracks.

A dental crown or inlay can be used for any age, even children. It’s painless. Your dentist will inspect your mouth and make a crown. This can be worn within one week depending on the impressions we take. While your permanent crown is being made, you might be given a temporary one.

A bridge may be recommended if the tooth is too far removed for a crown. A bridge can replace missing teeth, improve your bite, and repair facial structure. Although there are many types of bridges, they all include crowns placed on either side of the missing tooth or teeth, with a “pontic” (false tooth) placed between the anchoring teeth, also known as abutment teeth. This false tooth can also be created by our dentist in the office.

The bridge replaces the missing tooth. Bridges can be placed after you’ve had your remaining teeth removed (such as during a dental implant procedure) or after you’ve lost teeth due to periodontal disease or injury.

Dental implants

A dental implant, a surgical fixture, is an insert that is inserted into a jawbone. This is allowed to connect with bone over a period of time. The dental implant acts as a substitute for the root of a lost tooth. In turn, this “artificial tooth root” supports a replacement tooth or bridge.

An attached dental implant to the jawbone looks like a natural tooth. It stands alone and is stable. “Osseointegration” is the integration of dental implants and jawbones.

Dental implants made up of most of titanium are considered to be part of the body. Dental implant placement has improved significantly through technology and scientific research.

Implants may be used for the replacement of one, several, or all teeth. Dentistry’s goal is to replace teeth that are functional and beautiful.

For people who are missing teeth or cannot care for their mouths properly due to loss or extraction, dental implants can be the best option.

Many dentists near Carrollton Summertree offer dental implants. All implants are not created equal.

PubMed.gov reports that more than 220 implant brand names have been identified. These brands are produced by approximately 80 manufacturers. Different materials are used to make implants. The surface treatments vary and the shapes and sizes of the implants can be different. The dentist may choose from over 2000 implants for any given patient. Implants made out of titanium and titanium alloys are clinically proven to work well in bone that has been surgically prepared properly. Various surface treatments are currently being developed to improve the capacity of a more rapid anchorage of the implant into bone. Many claims that a particular manufacturer’s design features are superior to others are not supported by solid clinical scientific research. Some implants are manufactured in certain parts of the world without any evidence of conforming to international standards.

Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental guarantees that you will receive the most advanced implant technology. We can help you decide if implants might be right for your needs.

Dentures

Implants are more expensive than dentures (depending on what case it is). Dentures, partial or full, tend to be cheaper than implants.

False teeth are also called dentures. They replace missing teeth. These are removable appliances that support and change the shape or color of your gums, lips, and mouth.

Dentures must be held in place by healthy gums. You can replace missing teeth with a bridge that is permanently fixed. Implants or dentures can be used to replace missing teeth.

You can choose from:

* Traditional complete full dentures

* Partial dentures

* Custom dentures

* Intermediate (between partial and full) denture

* Snap-in dentures

* Snap-on dentures

* Overdentures [which are] used in combination with dental implants. [1]

Traditional full denture: This is the most durable and cost-effective type of full denture.

It is done by your dentist by taking impressions of your gums, teeth and mouth on each side.

The roof or palate is made up of a metal frame that supports the wire clasps.

Partial denture – A partial denture is one that only some of your teeth have been removed.

Clasps attach to the remaining tooth teeth to keep partial dentures in their place.

You wear it most often as an orthodontic retainer. Sometimes, however, you can take the device out at night or during meals.

Custom denture: A custom denture is made from an impression of your upper or lower jaw, using a special material.

It is designed to fit snugly and comfortably, unlike a regular denture.

Snap-in dentures – Snap-in dentures can be held in place with suction. No clasps are required.

They can be considered a “no prep” alternative to traditional dental dentures because they do not require relining.

Your dentist will make the snap-in dental dentures in a lab. He or she will first make a plaster cast of your jawline and gums. After that, the denture is fitted inside your mouth.

After learning how to adjust and insert your denture yourself, you will no longer need to visit the dentist for adjustments.

Overdentures: An overdenture is a “fixed” partial denture that eventually gets attached to dental implants for support.

Usually, an implant-supported overdenture provides a more secure and stable fit than other types of partial denture because it rests on top of implants.

An implant-supported overdenture is composed of two parts: a metal frame that snaps onto the dental implant posts and a replacement tooth or teeth attached to that frame.

Overdentures usually are made in dental laboratories. There, technicians use molds (molds), to model your jaw and gums.

Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental offers dentures for patients living in Carrollton Summertree. We’ll work with your to ensure that you get the most cost-effective, functional and attractive partial or complete dentures.
