Dental exams

During a dental exam, our dentist will look for any signs that the patient may be experiencing pain or discomfort. The dentist will also examine your teeth to see if they require any treatment. We’ll also inspect the teeth for any other oral problems that may be affecting the patient’s health.

We will examine the patient’s mouth and look for signs of gum disease. Gum disease can cause many health problems and even lead to tooth loss. This is vital because it can cause other health issues. By placing a periodontal probe between each of the patients’ teeth, we can feel how deep the tissue goes. This allows us determine the amount of gum tissue between each tooth. We also check for inflammation and bleeding.

To check if the patient has a problem with their jaw, we will place the mirror on top of the patient’s mouth and move the mirror around to get a complete view of the inside and teeth. We want to check that their teeth and muscles are in good health.

There are many reasons why we may take radiographs or X-rays, but the main reason is to check for decay in the back of your mouth. This can lead to severe pain if not treated promptly. You may also discover cavities close to your gum line. This needs to be treated as soon as possible to avoid a larger problem.

Children’s dentistry

Cavities and tooth decay in children can develop at any time, even when they are just two years old. Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental recommends your child visit Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental for their first dental appointment at 18 months or younger. We can ensure that there aren’t any structural or overbite issues. Your child’s primary teeth can last a lifetime if they are properly cared for. We recommend that you bring them in twice a year to make sure there are no major problems.

Before the team of experienced dental professionals starts the adolescent exam, we will ensure your child is at ease and secure. We will speak to your child during the appointment and let them know what’s going on so that they are able to participate. They will be assisted in relaxing in one of our pleasant and comfortable treatment seats. After a basic exam, an x-ray will be taken.

After this, we’ll talk with your child about their dental health and make a recommendation as to how to save the teeth that are still there.

We recommend that you establish healthy habits as soon as possible. This will help to ensure your child’s teeth are strong and free from any potential problems. Your child may benefit from dental sealants and fluoride treatment. If our staff detects a problem, we’ll develop a customized cure plan that takes your kid’s greatest care and comfort into account. We will accommodate any special requests such as music playing during an appointment or providing a child-friendly distraction.

We are always happy to see your kid’s smiling faces in our office, and we look forward to keeping them healthy for years to come!

Teeth Cleaning

A dental hygienist cleans teeth, performs scaling and polishing, removes plaque and calculus from patient’s teeth.

Dental hygienist’s work in close contact with patients. They must be knowledgeable about their job as they are responsible to clean the teeth.

We use different kinds of instruments, water sprays and special toothpaste to clean our patients’ teeth. Many types of instruments include brushes, drills, and scrapers. They polish the patient’s smiles with special polishing liquid and disks. It is very important to remove all plaque and calculus from patient’s teeth before they can start scaling and polishing.

For faster and more comfortable cleanings, we use the latest hygienic equipment. Our ultrasonic cleaning equipment uses high-speed vibrations combined with a lubricating spray in order to gently remove any debris. You can also use handheld instruments like a curette and scaler to clean smaller pieces of plaque. For optimal dental health, a dental hygienist may recommend you return every six months for teeth cleaning.

To prevent gum disease, dentists need to clean the teeth of tartar or plaque. This treatment must be done at regular intervals to prevent gum disease and tooth decay. We make it as easy for the whole family to have regular dental visits.

Wisdom tooth extraction

Wisdom tooth extraction is the removal of one or several wisdom teeth. They are also known as permanent adult tooth. A wisdom tooth can be removed by an oral surgeon or dentist.

Even if impacted tooth are not causing problems, some dentists or oral surgeons suggest wisdom tooth removal to prevent future problems. Checkups and x-rays can help to identify potential issues.

A wisdom tooth extraction is a surgical procedure for the removal of a ‘wisdom’ tooth due to various complications such as:

  • Impacted wisdom tooth

  • Angled toward the neighboring tooth or back of jaw

  • You are stuck in your jaw bone

  • Becomes a cause of pain

  • Periodontal disease can result.

  • Causing decay of neighboring teeth due to trapped food

  • Cyst formation around wisdom teeth

  • Interferes orthodontist treatment

Most patients receive a local anesthetic to numb their area and a sedative for relaxation to relieve any pain.

Oral Sedation might be used in the rare case where patients are extremely anxious.

You can go home on the same day as your wisdom tooth extraction if it is uncomplicated, but you’ll need someone to drive you and stay with you for 24 hours.

It is possible to return to work after wisdom tooth removal, but you should avoid strenuous activity for at most two or three days.

While many dental offices can remove wisdom teeth, there are some cases that require an oral surgeon to treat moderately impacted wisdom teeth. Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental is a leading oral surgeon, so you won’t need to be referred.

Laser Dentistry

Dental lasers can be used to treat many oral diseases. The first commercial use of lasers in clinical dentistry was for treatment of tooth tissue.

Laser dentistry may be more comfortable than other equipment such as drills or other non-laser tools.

Two main types are used in laser dentistry: hard tissue procedures and soft tissue procedures. Hard tissue refers specifically to the teeth while soft tissue refers primarily to the gums. When lasers are applied to the teeth, they can be used for cutting (ablation), vaporizing (excited plasma), or removing decay. The laser energy is rapidly absorbed by the water in the cells when it is applied to gums.

Initial dentists focused on treating hard tissue. Lasers could not be used to treat soft tissues. So laser dentistry has been around for some time, but just not applied to gum treatment until recently.

Scientists discovered that different tissues and applications have different absorption wavelengths for lasers. For determining which laser is right for an application, you can use wavelengths in the nm range. In this respect, there are many different types of Lasers.

There is less need for sutures with soft tissue lasers. Treatments of soft tissue lasers reduce bleeding because the laser stimulates clotting. In some cases, anesthesia may not even be required. The laser’s ability to reduce bacteria means that there are fewer chances of getting bacterial infection. The laser’s antibacterial action speeds wound healing and encourages tissue regeneration. These procedures are less painful than traditional treatments.

There are some downsides to soft-tissue procedures. The light from the laser is absorbed by water within the cells. This causes them to evaporate quickly, leading to pain and decreased elasticity of the gum tissue. Also, lasers are only used on the tooth being treated in hard tissue procedures. There is an increased risk of injury to surrounding tissues from stray beams during soft tissue procedures.

To see if laser dentistry is right for you, call us today to schedule an exam. We are the leading dental clinic offering specialized laser treatment near Highlands.

Tooth White Fillings

There are other options available today, including platinum, which is a better choice than gold and silver fillings. Amalgam fillings, also known as composite resin fillers, are stronger and more natural-looking than silver and gold.

Composite fillings are the current preferred filling material. Composite fillings can be matched to your natural teeth by being matched with their natural colors. A bonding agent is used to secure them to the tooth to prevent them falling off. Composite fillings can last longer than traditional silver or gold fillings.

White fillings are constructed of a high-strength composite resin that can be easily color-matched to your natural tooth, making it virtually undetectable. Composite tooth-colored fillings stick to the tooth and don’t sit on top like gold or silver fillings. Composite fillings are less likely to fall out than gold fillings. Tooth colored fillings are superior to silver because they are more durable, less likely to break or crack, and are virtually undetectable.

Composite tooth-colored tooth fillings stay bonded to the teeth they are placed into. Your oral health does not depend on the adhesive joining dissimilar materials. This allows for stronger and more durable fillings than with other types.

Tooth-colored dental fillings can also help to restore damaged molars. Tooth-colored filling material can be used to repair a fractured tooth and restore your chewing ability.

Tooth-colored fillings can be made out of ceramic materials that are also used for crowns, which have the compressive strength to tooth enamel. In addition to being strong, they bond well both to tooth enamel and to composite resin.

Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental will assess your eligibility for composite resin fillings. We are one of the leading providers of this new filling in Highlands.

Sedation dentistry

Sedation dentistry makes it possible for your dentist to perform complex dental procedures without any difficulty. It entails putting the patient into a sleep-like condition using medication, hence it is also known as sleep dentistry.

Minimal Sedation can be described as the lowest level of sedation. This ranges from almost unconscious to a state that is similar to being awake. It’s used to help the patient relax and feel comfortable. It is used to calm fears and anxiety. The patient is able to breathe through a mask, or face piece, that is similar to a clear plastic bags.

Moderate sedation is used to promote relaxation and sleep during treatment. It is often combined with Nitrous Oxide (or laughing gas). You can get this level of sedation by injecting the medication or intravenously using a drip under your arm.

Deep Sedation can cause the patient to lose consciousness and is subject to constant monitoring by trained staff. This type of sedation is used for severe surgical procedures and trauma cases.

Anaesthesia, the most powerful type of dental sedation allows the patient to not feel pain, and they are completely unaware of the situation. The patient will be completely incapacitated and need to be closely monitored by trained staff. This method is only used for more serious procedures, such as extensive root canal treatment, complicated oral surgery, and the removal of large amounts of teeth. This type of sedation is more intense than other forms and requires that you remain in the dental clinic while being monitored.

Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental, one of the few practices that offer all levels in sedation dental care near Highlands.

Root canal treatment

Endodontic treatment (also known as a root-canal) is a procedure to save a tooth from further damage and infection. The first thing most people do when they get a toothache is to take painkillers. It doesn’t help. Long-term use of anti-inflammatory medications can cause kidney damage and may not address the root problem.

Root canal treatment is a way to eliminate the infection. Root canal treatment is very simple, but it can take multiple sessions.

A dentist performs endodontic treatments in two to three sessions. Local anesthesia is used to numb the area so you do not feel discomfort. Dental x-rays might be required to locate the affected tooth.

To prevent infection, we will clean and seal the tooth. The composite will then be used to fill the tooth. To enhance protection, a dental crown can be used in some cases.

Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental has been providing endodontic treatments for patients in or around Highlands for years.

Crowns and Bridges

A crown, which is a technique to strengthen or improve the form of teeth, is called a restorative procedure. A crown is simply a cap that’s applied to a tooth in order restore its size, strength, form, and appearance.

There are many options for dental crowns. They can be made from ceramics, porcelain or resin. The amount of decay and physical properties of the material determine which material is used. Crowns are also available in full ceramic or porcelain or a mix of metal and porcelain depending on your needs.

Porcelain crowns are often used to cover teeth that have undergone root canals or large restorations. They can also be used to cover teeth that have been damaged by cracks or chips. Since the treatment is primarily used to restore a damaged tooth rather than strengthen it, porcelain crowns often have a higher demand among patients who want an aesthetic restoration.

The dental crown replaces the old filling material. It will make your tooth stronger and protect it from further damage. If you have recently had a root canal, this could be an excellent option to save money in the long-term. Crowns can be used to repair or replace cosmetic teeth that are damaged or compromised by chips or cracks.

A dental crown or inlay can be used for any age, even children. It is very painless. Our dentist will examine your mouth and create a crown that can be worn after a week based on the impressions you provide. While you wait for your permanent crown to be completed, you may also get a temporary crown.

If a tooth is too far gone for a crown, the dentist may suggest a bridge. A bridge can help you replace missing or damaged teeth, correct facial structure, and improve your bite. Although there are many types of bridges, they all include crowns placed on either side of the missing tooth or teeth, with a “pontic” (false tooth) placed between the anchoring teeth, also known as abutment teeth. These false teeth are also created in the office by our dentist.

The bridge replaces the missing tooth. Bridges can be placed after you’ve had your remaining teeth removed (such as during a dental implant procedure) or after you’ve lost teeth due to periodontal disease or injury.

Dental implants

A dental implant, a surgical fixture, is an insert that is inserted into a jawbone. This is allowed to connect with bone over a period of time. The dental implant is a substitute for the root a missing tooth. The “artificial tooth root”, in turn, supports a replacement or bridge.

A dental implant attached to the jawbone can stand alone on its own, and it has great stability. “Osseointegration,” also known as the integration or fusion of dental implants with jawbones, is a term that describes the process of integrating dental implants with jawbones.

A majority of dental implant components are made from titanium. This allows them become part of your body and can be recognised as a foreign item. Technology and study have advanced over time to improve dental implant placement outcomes considerably.

Dental implants can replace any number of teeth, including all or some. Dentistry’s goal is to replace teeth that are functional and beautiful.

For those who have lost or cannot take care of their oral health because of missing or extracted teeth, dental implants may be the best option.

Many dentists near Highlands offer dental implants. However, not all implants are the same.

PubMed.gov reports that more than 220 implant brand names have been identified. These brands are produced by approximately 80 manufacturers. Implants are made of different materials and have different surface treatments. They come in different sizes, shapes, and widths. In theory, the dentist can choose from more than 2000 implants depending on the patient’s treatment needs. Implants made of titanium or titanium alloys perform clinically well in surgically prepared bone. Many surface treatments are currently being used to improve the ability to anchor the implant more quickly into bone. A substantial number of claims made by different manufacturers on alleged superiority due to design characteristics are not based on sound and long-term clinical scientific research. Some implant sales are made in parts of the World without demonstrating compliance to international standards.

Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental guarantees that you will receive the most advanced implant technology. We can help you decide if implants might be right for your needs.

Dentures

Dentures, whether full or partial tend to be a more affordable option compared to implants (depending on the case).

Dentures, also known as false teeth, are devices that replace missing teeth. These are removable devices that can change your gums or shade the color of your lips.

Healthy gums are necessary to hold dentures in place. You can replace missing teeth with a bridge that is permanently fixed. Dental implants or dentures [may be used to replace missing teeth].

There are several types of dentures available:

* Traditional complete full dentures

* Partial dentures

* Custom dentures

* Intermediate (between partial and full) denture

* Snap-in dentures

* Snap-on dentures

* Overdentures that can be used with dental implants. [1]

Traditional full denture: This is the most durable and cost-effective type of full denture.

It is made by your dentist with an impression of the gums and teeth on each side of your mouth .

The roof or palate is made up of a metal frame that supports the wire clasps.

Partial denture. A partial denture also known as a “temporary part denture” is when you have some teeth left.

Cluts attach to remaining teeth to secure partial dentures.

You wear it most often as an orthodontic retainer. Sometimes, however, you can take the device out at night or during meals.

Custom denture: A custom-made denture is one that is made using an impression of the upper or lower jaw and a special material.

It is more secure and comfortable than a normal denture.

Snap-in Dentures: Snap in dentures are secured by suction and do not require clasps.

They can be considered a “no prep” alternative to traditional dental dentures because they do not require relining.

Your dentist will make your dentures in a dental laboratory. First, he’ll take a plaster model from your jaw and gums. Next, he’ll fit the denture inside your mouth.

After you learn how to adjust and insert the denture yourself, you won’t need to go back to your dentist for adjustments.

Overdentures: A partial denture “fixed” to a tooth that is eventually attached to dental implants.

Implant-supported overdentures are usually more stable and secure than other partial dentures because they rest on top of implants.

An implant-supported, overdenture is made of two parts. The metal frame snaps onto the dental posts and the replacement tooth or teeth are attached to it.

Overdentures are often made in a dentist’s lab. Here, technicians create models (molds of your gums and jaw) to make the device.

Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental serves as a top provider of dentures in the area. We’ll collaborate with you in designing the most functional, attractive and affordable dentures for your full- or partial teeth.
