Dental exams

During a comprehensive dental exam, the dentist will assess whether or not there are signs that the patient is experiencing pain. We will also examine the teeth to know if they need to be fixed in any way. We will also examine the patient for any other problems that might affect their oral health.

In addition to looking at the patient’s teeth we will also be looking for signs that indicate problems with the gums. Gum disease can lead other health problems, and may even cause tooth death. This is done by inserting a periodontal probe between each patient’s tooth and measuring how deep it goes. This will allow us to see how much gum tissue is still between each tooth. We also check for inflammation and bleeding.

To see if the patient’s jaw is in trouble, we will put a mouth mirror on top. We will then move it around so that we have a clear view inside the mouth. We want to ensure that the patient’s teeth and surrounding muscles are healthy.

We may also use radiographs or take x-rays to look for decay. This can cause pain if it’s not found early on. It is possible to find cavities right near the gum line. These need to be treated promptly to prevent further problems.

Children’s dentistry

Tooth decay and cavities can occur in children at any age, even as young as two years. Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental suggests that children bring their child in for their first appointment when they’re 18 months or younger to ensure that there aren’t any overbite or structural issues. Your child’s primary teeth can last a lifetime if they are properly cared for. We recommend that you bring them in twice a year to make sure there are no major problems.

Before our skilled team of dental professionals begins the adolescent examination, we will make sure that your child feels at ease. We will be available to talk with your child throughout the procedure and provide information so that they can fully participate. You will help them to relax in one of our comfortable and relaxing treatment chairs. An initial mouth exam and x-ray will then be performed.

After that, we will speak with you about the dental health of your child and make recommendations on how to maintain their remaining teeth.

We recommend that you establish healthy habits as soon as possible. This will help to ensure your child’s teeth are strong and free from any potential problems. To protect your child’s teeth, you may need to use dental sealants or fluoride treatment. If we detect a problem, we will develop a customized treatment plan that ensures your child’s safety and comfort. We may be able to accommodate any special requests you might make, such a play of music during the appointment, or a diversion that is child-friendly.

We are always happy to see your kid’s smiling faces in our office, and we look forward to keeping them healthy for years to come!

Dental Cleaning

A dentist cleans, scales, polishes, and removes calculus and plaque from patients’ teeth.

Dental hygienists must be in close contact to patients. They are responsible in cleaning teeth.

Patients’ teeth are cleaned with different instruments and water sprays. Special toothpaste may be used. Instruments include many different types of brushes, drills, scrapers etc. They also polish patients’ teeth using special polishing products and disks. Before polishing and scaling can be started, it’s important to eliminate all plaque and calculus.

The latest equipment in hygiene allows for quicker and more comfortable cleaning. Our ultrasonic cleaning equipment uses high-speed vibrations combined with a lubricating spray in order to gently remove any debris. You can also use handheld instruments like a curette and scaler to clean smaller pieces of plaque. For optimal dental health, a dental hygienist may recommend you return every six months for teeth cleaning.

In order to prevent gum diseases, the dental hygienist must clean out tartar and plaque off patients’ teeth. The patient could suffer from gum disease and tooth decay if they do not perform this treatment regularly. We make it as easy for the whole family to have regular dental visits.

Wisdom tooth extraction

Wisdom tooth extraction refers to the surgical removal one or more wisdom teeth. These are permanent adult teeth that rest at the back end of your mouth. A wisdom tooth can be removed by an oral surgeon or dentist.

Many dentists and surgeons advocate wisdom teeth extraction even though impacted teeth may not cause any issues. This is a way to avoid future problems. It is possible to predict problems by having regular checkups or x-rays.

A wisdom tooth extraction is a surgical procedure for the removal of a ‘wisdom’ tooth due to various complications such as:

  • Impacted wisdom teeth

  • Angled towards the adjacent tooth or back of your jaw

  • Stuck within jaw bone

  • Becomes a cause of pain

  • Periodontal disease is caused by this.

  • Due to trapped food, causes decay in neighboring teeth

  • Cyst formation around wisdom teeth

  • Interferes orthodontic treatment

Most patients receive a local anesthetic to numb their area and a sedative for relaxation to relieve any pain.

Oral sedation is sometimes recommended in cases of extreme anxiety.

If the procedure is straightforward, you can return home the same day. But you will need to have someone drive you and be there for 24 hours.

Your wisdom tooth extraction should allow you to return to work on the same day, however strenuous activities should be avoided over the next two to three days.

There are many dentists that can remove wisdom. However, if the wisdom tooth or other teeth are severely impacted, an oral surgeon may be required. At Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental, our dentist is also a top oral surgeon so you will not need to be referred out.

Laser Dentistry

Dental lasers are used to treat a variety of oral conditions. The laser was commercially adopted by clinical dental practice in 1989 to treat tooth tissue.

In comparison to drills and other non-laser equipment, laser dentistry may provide a more comfortable treatment choice for a variety of hard or soft tissue treatments.

Laser dentistry uses two types of procedures: hard tissue and soft tissues. Hard tissue refers the teeth, while soft tissue is the gums. When lasers are applied to the teeth, they can be used for cutting (ablation), vaporizing (excited plasma), or removing decay. Laser energy can be used to quickly evaporate water from the cells of the gums when used on them.

Because lasers were not able to treat soft tissue, the dentists initially only treated hard tissue. Laser dentistry has been around since the early days, but it was not used for gum treatment until recent years.

Scientists discovered that different tissues and applications have different absorption wavelengths for lasers. To determine which laser is best for a given job, the wavelengths can be measured in nm. There are many types of lasers available.

There is less need for sutures with soft tissue lasers. Because the laser stimulates blood flow, bleeding is less likely in soft tissue. Due to the laser’s antibacterial effect, the likelihood of bacterial infections decreases. Lasers can speed up the healing process and allow for tissue regeneration. The procedures may cause less discomfort. The patient’s recovery time is faster than with traditional treatment methods.

There are disadvantages to soft tissue procedures. The light from the laser is absorbed by water within the cells. This causes them to evaporate quickly, leading to pain and decreased elasticity of the gum tissue. Also, lasers are only used on the tooth being treated in hard tissue procedures. Stray beams can cause tissue damage in soft tissues.

Tooth White Fillings

There are other options available today, including platinum, which is a better choice than gold and silver fillings. Instead of silver or gold fillings, you can place the natural-looking and high-strength amalgam fillings. Also known as composite resin fillers.

Composite fillings have become the preferred filling material. They’re designed to blend in with your teeth’s natural color and are secured to the tooth using a bonding agent that prevents them from falling off. Composite fillings can last longer than traditional silver or gold fillings.

White fillings are made from a high-strength resin composite that can be easily matched to natural teeth. Composite tooth-colored restorations are bonded to the tooth instead of sitting on top of it, like gold and silver fillings. Composite fillings are less likely to fall out than gold fillings. Tooth-colored fillings are better than silver, as they are more durable and less likely to crack or break. They are almost undetectable.

Composite tooth-colored fillings are bonded to the tooth they are attached to, so your oral health is not affected by the adhesive joining of dissimilar materials. This allows for greater strength and durability than is possible with other types of fillings.

Tooth-colored fillings are also available to repair broken-down molars. These molars are more susceptible to breaking because they lack the natural chewing force that provides support to the teeth in your front. Tooth color filling material is stronger than traditional tooth-colored ones and can thus be used to restore chewing function.

Tooth-colored fillings can be made out of ceramic materials that are also used for crowns, which have the compressive strength to tooth enamel. They bond well to both tooth enamel and composite resin, in addition to being strong.

Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental is available to help determine if you are a candidate for composite-resin fillings. We’re one of the top dental providers of this modern filling in the Newman Village area.

Sedation dentistry

The dentist can perform any complex dental procedure with no difficulty using sedation dentistry. It involves putting the patient to sleep using medication.

Minimal Sedation can be described as the lowest level of sedation. This ranges from almost unconscious to a state that is similar to being awake. It’s used to help the patient relax and feel comfortable. Its primary purpose is the relief of fear. Nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, is administered through a mask or facepiece that looks similar to a clear bag.

Moderate sedation is intended to produce a relaxed state and sleep during dental treatment. It can be combined with Nitrous Oxide or laughing gas. The medication to achieve this level may be administered intravenously or by injection.

At Deep Sedation, the patient is usually unaware of what’s going on and has to be constantly monitored by trained staff. This level of sedation may be used for trauma cases or complex surgical procedures.

Anaesthesia, the most powerful form of dental sedation, does not allow the patient to feel pain at all, leaving them completely unaware of what’s going on. The patient will be completely incapacitated and need to be closely monitored by trained staff. This method is only used for more serious procedures, such as extensive root canal treatment, complicated oral surgery, and the removal of large amounts of teeth. This level of Sedation requires that you stay longer in the dental office under observation than any other.

Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental has all levels sedation dentistry available in Newman Village.

Root canal treatment

Endodontics, also called a root canal or a root graft, is a treatment that saves a tooth with a decayed tooth. This involves eradicating the infection and preventing any further damage. The first thing most people do when they get a toothache is to take painkillers. It doesn’t help. Long-term use of anti-inflammatory medications can cause kidney damage and may not address the root problem.

Root canal treatment eliminates the infection. This is a straightforward procedure that may require several visits.

A dentist performs endodontic treatments in two to three sessions. To ensure that you don’t feel any discomfort, we use local anesthesia. Dental xrays can help to diagnose the tooth that is infected.

We will clean and seal your tooth to keep germs out. We’ll then fill the tooth with composite. To provide protection, a dental Crown may be necessary in some instances.

Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental is a dentist who has provided endodontic care for patients in and around Newman Village over the years.

Crowns and Bridges

A crown can be used to strengthen teeth or improve their appearance. It’s essentially a cap that’s used to cover a tooth in order to restore its size, strength, and form while also enhancing its appearance.

Dental crowns are made of a variety materials like ceramics and porcelain as well as stainless steel and precious metals. The tooth’s condition and the material’s physical characteristics will dictate the choice of material. The material options for crowns vary depending on whether they are full ceramic or porcelain.

Porcelain Crowns are used to cover damaged teeth or those that have had extensive restorations. These crowns are ideal for any teeth that have suffered damage such as chips or cracks. Since the treatment is primarily used to restore a damaged tooth rather than strengthen it, porcelain crowns often have a higher demand among patients who want an aesthetic restoration.

A dental crown will replace any old filling material. Your tooth will be stronger because it is protected against further damage. If you have recently had a root canal, this could be an excellent option to save money in the long-term. Crowns are also able to be used on cosmetic or damaged teeth due to cracks or chips.

A dental crown, or inlay, may be suitable to anyone, even children. It’s painless. Your dentist will inspect your mouth and make a crown. This can be worn within one week depending on the impressions we take. You might also receive a temporary crown while your permanent one is being created.

The dentist may recommend a bridge for teeth that are too far away from a crown. A bridge may help replace missing teeth, repair facial structure, and improve your bite. There are many types. Most include crowns placed on either one or both sides of the missing tooth. Sometimes, there is also a “pontic” (false) between the anchoring tooth. These are also known as abutment and lateral teeth. The dentist also makes these false teeth in his office.

A bridge replaces one tooth or more that are missing. Bridges can be placed after you’ve had your remaining teeth removed (such as during a dental implant procedure) or after you’ve lost teeth due to periodontal disease or injury.

Dental implants

A dental implant is a surgical fixture that is inserted into the jawbone and allowed to connect with the bone over a few months. The dental implant is a substitute for the root a missing tooth. This artificial tooth root supports a new tooth or bridge.

An attached dental implant to the jawbone looks like a natural tooth. It stands alone and is stable. “Osseointegration” refers to the integration of dental implant and jawbones.

Dental implants made up of most of titanium are considered to be part of the body. The technology and research have improved the outcomes of dental implant placements.

Implants may be used for the replacement of one, several, or all teeth. The goal of dentistry’s tooth replacement is to restore both functionality and attractiveness.

For those who have lost or cannot take care of their oral health because of missing or extracted teeth, dental implants may be the best option.

Many dentists near Newman Village offer dental implants. But not all implants are created equal.

PubMed.gov has identified more than 220 implant brands, which were produced by around 80 manufacturers. The implants are made from different materials, undergo different surface treatments and come in different shapes, lengths, widths and forms. The dentist can in theory choose among more than 2,000 implants in a given patient treatment situation. Implants made from titanium or titanium alloys seem to perform well clinically in correctly surgically prepared bones, regardless of slight variations in shape and form. There are many surface treatments that can be used to enhance the speed of anchorage. A lot of the claims made by different manufacturers about superiority because of design characteristics are not supported with long-term clinical scientific research. Implants are sold in some areas of the world with no evidence of compliance to any international standards.

Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental ensures that you have the best possible quality in implant technology. Call us to make an appointment and find out if implants are right fit for you.

Dentures

Implants are more expensive than dentures (depending on what case it is). Dentures, partial or full, tend to be cheaper than implants.

Also known as false teeth or dentures, dentures are devices that can replace missing teeth. These are removable appliances that support and change the shape or color of your gums, lips, and mouth.

Healthy gums are required to keep dentures in their place. Missing teeth may be replaced with a bridge, which is fixed in place. To replace missing teeth, dental implants or dentures may be used.

There are several types of dentures available:

* Traditional complete full dentures

* Partial dentures

* Custom dentures

* Intermediate (between partials & full) denture

* Snap-in dentures

* Snap-on dentures

* These overdentures can be used in conjunction with dental implants. [1]

Traditional full denture: A traditional full denture is also known as a standard or fixed full denture. It is typically the most affordable and durable type of full-denture.

It is taken by your dentist using an impression of your teeth and gums on each side.

The roof or palate is built up with a metal framework that supports the wire clasps used to hold it in place.

Partial denture – A partial denture is one that only some of your teeth have been removed.

The clasps attach to the remaining dentures to fix partial dentures.

It is most often worn as an orthodontic retainer. However, it can be removed at night or while eating.

A custom denture can be made by taking an impression from your upper or lower jaw using a special materials.

It fits snugly and comfortably better than standard dentures.

Snap-in or snap-in dentures: Snaps-in dentures work by using suction.

Because they don’t need to be relined, they are considered an “no-prep” alternative to traditional dentures.

Your dentist will make snap-in dentures for you in a dental lab. This involves taking a plaster of your jaw, gums and then fitting the denture into your mouth to make sure it is a perfect fit.

You won’t have to visit your dentist again after you learn how to adjust and place the denture.

Overdentures: An overdenture is a “fixed” partial denture that eventually gets attached to dental implants for support.

An implant-supported partial denture is more secure because it rests on top implants.

An implant-supported overdenture is composed of two parts: a metal frame that snaps onto the dental implant posts and a replacement tooth or teeth attached to that frame.

Overdentures are often made in a dentist’s lab. Here, technicians create models (molds of your gums and jaw) to make the device.

Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental offers dentures for patients living in Newman Village. We’ll work together with you to find the perfect combination of functionality, looks, and affordability for your dentures.
