Dental exams

Our dentist will inspect the mouth for signs and symptoms that may indicate pain or discomfort. To determine if any teeth need to be repaired, we will also inspect them. We’ll also look for any other dental problems that may affect the patient’s oral health.

We will examine the patient’s mouth and look for signs of gum disease. Gum disease can cause tooth loss and other health problems. By placing a periodontal probe between each of the patients’ teeth, we can feel how deep the tissue goes. This helps us know how much gum tissue is left in between each tooth. We also check for inflammation and bleeding.

To see if the patient’s jaw is in trouble, we will put a mouth mirror on top. We will then move it around so that we have a clear view inside the mouth. We want to make sure that their teeth are staying healthy and the muscles around them are not causing any problems.

We will also take X-rays or radiographs for many different reasons, but one reason is to check for tooth decay at the very back of the mouth. If not caught early, this could cause pain. There may also be cavities near the gum line, which should be treated immediately to avoid further damage.

Children’s dentist

Cavities and tooth decay in children can develop at any time, even when they are just two years old. Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental advises bringing your kid in for their first visit when they are 18 months old or younger so that we may ensure there are no overbite issues or structural problems. If your child is well taken after, their primary teeth may last a lifetime. Therefore, we recommend that they visit us at least twice each year to ensure that there are no major problems.

Before the team of experienced dental professionals starts the adolescent exam, we will ensure your child is at ease and secure. We will talk to your child throughout the appointment, explaining what is happening and how they can take part in it. Our treatment seats are comfortable and inviting, so they can relax. An initial mouth exam and x-ray will then be performed.

After this, we’ll talk with your child about their dental health and make a recommendation as to how to save the teeth that are still there.

We recommend that your child establish healthy habits early on. They will help ensure that his or her teeth stay strong and prevent any problems later. A fluoride treatment or dental sealants may be advised to protect the teeth as your child grows older. Our staff will determine if there is a problem and develop a plan to fix it. We may be able to accommodate any special requests you might make, such a play of music during the appointment, or a diversion that is child-friendly.

We love to see the smiles on your kids’ faces when they visit our office. We look forward to helping them stay healthy for many years!

Teeth Cleanings

A dental hygienist cleans teeth, performs scaling and polishing, removes plaque and calculus from patient’s teeth.

Dental hygienist’s work in close contact with patients. They need to know their job very well because they are responsible for the teeth cleaning process.

We clean patients’ teeth using different types of tools and water sprays. Some may even use special toothpaste. Many types of instruments include brushes, drills, and scrapers. They polish patient’s teeth using special polishing solution or disks. It is very important to remove all plaque and calculus from patient’s teeth before they can start scaling and polishing.

The most recent hygienic tools are used for more efficient and comfortable cleaning. An ultrasonic cleaning device, for example, uses high-speed vibrations to remove dirt and a lubricating oil to do the same. Handheld instruments, such as a curette or scaler, will be used to remove smaller fragments of plaque. For optimal dental health, a dental hygienist may recommend you return every six months for teeth cleaning.

Dental hygienist need to remove tartar and plaque from patient’s teeth in order to prevent gum disease. The patient could suffer from gum disease and tooth decay if they do not perform this treatment regularly. We do our best to make regular visits to the dentist as simple as possible for all members of the family.

Wisdom tooth extraction

Wisdom tooth removal is the surgical procedure to remove one or more wisdoms teeth. This is called permanent adult teeth. A wisdom tooth extraction can be performed by either an oral surgeon, dentist, or both.

Even if impacted tooth are not causing problems, some dentists or oral surgeons suggest wisdom tooth removal to prevent future problems. Regular checkups and x-rays can allow issues to be predicted.

Wisdom tooth extraction is a procedure to remove a wisdom tooth. This can be done due to several complications, such as:

  • Impacted wisdom tooth

  • Angled towards neighboring teeth or back of jaw

  • Stuck in the jawbone

  • Pain becomes a source of discomfort

  • Becomes a cause of periodontal disease

  • Causing decay of neighboring teeth due to trapped food

  • Cyst formation in the wisdom tooth

  • Interferes orthodontist treatment

In most cases patients are given local anesthetic to numb the area and a sedative to relax them so they won’t feel any pain.

Oral sedation may be recommended for patients who are anxious in rare instances.

You can go home on the same day as your wisdom tooth extraction if it is uncomplicated, but you’ll need someone to drive you and stay with you for 24 hours.

The day following wisdom tooth extraction you can return to work, but it is best to avoid strenuous activities for at least two to three additional days.

There are many dentists that can remove wisdom. However, if the wisdom tooth or other teeth are severely impacted, an oral surgeon may be required. Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental also has an excellent oral surgeon, so there is no need to have your case referred.

Laser Dentistry

Dental lasers are used to treat a variety of oral conditions. Clinical dental practice adopted it commercially in 1989 for treatments on tooth tissue.

Laser dentistry might be more convenient than traditional drills and other equipment.

Hard tissue and soft tissue are the main types of laser dentistry. Hard tissue refers to the teeth, and soft tissue refers to the gums. Lasers can be applied to teeth for cutting (ablation), excitation (excited plasma), and removing decay. The laser energy is quickly absorbed by water and evaporated when it’s applied to gums.

In the beginning, dentists only treated hard tissue as it was believed that lasers couldn’t treat soft tissue. So laser dentistry has been around for some time, but just not applied to gum treatment until recently.

Scientists have found that the highest absorption wavelengths of lasers vary for different tissues and applications. It is possible to determine the appropriate laser for a particular application by looking at wavelengths in nanometers. There are many types of lasers available.

With soft tissue lasers, there is a lesser requirement for sutures. Bleeding is reduced in treated soft tissues as the laser stimulates blood clotting. With some treatments, anesthesia isn’t necessary. Due to the laser’s antibacterial effect, the likelihood of bacterial infections decreases. The laser’s antibacterial action speeds wound healing and encourages tissue regeneration. These procedures can cause less discomfort than traditional treatments.

There are some downsides to soft-tissue procedures. The laser light is absorbed into the cells by water, which causes them to evaporate quickly. This results in pain and a loss of elasticity in the gum tissues. The laser can only be used on the tooth that is being treated for hard tissue procedures. There is an increased risk of injury to surrounding tissues from stray beams during soft tissue procedures.

Call us today for a consultation to see if laser dental care is right for your needs. We’re the premier dental clinic that offers laser treatments in the Palisades Point area.

Tooth White Fillings

Instead of gold or silver fillings, there are now platinum and other options. Amalgam fillings, also known as composite resin fillers, are stronger and more natural-looking than silver and gold.

Composite fillings are today’s most popular filling material. Composite fillings are made to match your natural teeth color. They attach to the tooth with a bonding agent to prevent them from falling out. Composite fillings have a higher durability rating than gold or silver.

White fillings are made from a high-strength resin composite that can be easily matched to natural teeth. Composite tooth color fillings that match the tooth’s color actually stick to it. They don’t just sit on top of it like gold or silver. Composite fillings will not fall out as often as gold fillings. Tooth-colored fillings are better than silver, as they are more durable and less likely to crack or break. They are almost undetectable.

Composite tooth-colored dental fillings remain bonded to each tooth. This means that your oral health will not be affected by two different materials being joined. This allows for greater strength, durability, and stability than other types of fillings.

Tooth-colored fillings are also available to repair broken-down molars. These molars are more susceptible to breaking because they lack the natural chewing force that provides support to the teeth in your front. Tooth-colored fillings are strong enough to fix a fractured or damaged molar and can therefore be used for chewing.

Tooth-colored fillings can be made out of ceramic materials that are also used for crowns, which have the compressive strength to tooth enamel. They bond well to both tooth enamel and composite resin, in addition to being strong.

Call Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental to see if you’re a good candidate for composite resin fillings. This modern filling is available at one of the best dental offices in the Palisades Point region.

Sedation dentistry

Sedation dentistry allows your dentist to complete any complicated dental procedure without difficulty. It involves putting the patient under sedation using medication.

Minimal Sedation can be described as the lowest level of sedation. This ranges from almost unconscious to a state that is similar to being awake. It is used by the patient to allow them to feel comfortable and relax. Its primary purpose is the relief of fear. Nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, is administered through a mask or facepiece that looks similar to a clear bag.

Moderate sedation is primarily used to induce sleep and relaxation during dental treatment. It may be combined with Nitrous Oxide, or laughing gas. You can get this level of sedation by injecting the medication or intravenously using a drip under your arm.

Deep Sedation is a form of sedation where the patient is often unaware of what’s happening and must be monitored by trained staff. This level of sedation is usually used in trauma cases or for extensive surgical procedures.

Anaesthesia, the most powerful type of dental sedation allows the patient to not feel pain, and they are completely unaware of the situation. The patient remains immobile and must be closely monitored by trained staff. This type of sedation should only be used for serious dental treatments such as extractions of many teeth, complex oral surgery, or extensive root canal work. You will need to be monitored for a longer time if you are using this type of sedation.

Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental is one of the few dental practices offering all levels of sedation dentistry near Palisades Point.

Root canal treatment

Endodontic therapy, also known by the root canal, involves saving a tooth that is infected and preventing it from getting worse. Most people take painkillers to relieve a toothache. This doesn’t actually help, and taking anti-inflammatory medication long term can be bad for your kidneys and doesn’t address the real issue.

Root canal treatment removes the infection. Root canal treatment is very simple, but it can take multiple sessions.

Endodontic treatment is performed in between two and three sessions by an endodontist. Local anesthesia is used to numb the area so you do not feel discomfort. Dental x-rays can be used to identify the problem tooth.

We will clean the tooth, seal it and prevent any germs from getting into it during the first session. The tooth is then filled with composite. To provide protection, a dental Crown may be necessary in some instances.

Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental provides endodontic treatment for patients living in and around Palisades Point since years.

Crowns and Bridges

A crown is a restorative technique for teeth that aims to strengthen them or improve their form. A crown is a cap that covers a tooth to improve its strength and appearance.

Dental crowns come in a range of materials including porcelain, ceramic, resin, stainless-steel, and precious metals such as gold. The material used is determined by the extent of decay present on the tooth, as well as the physical properties of the material. You can also get crowns in porcelain, full ceramic, or a mixture of metal and porcelain depending upon your requirements.

Porcelain crowns can be used to cover large or complex root canals. These crowns can be used for damaged teeth, such as chips or cracks. Because porcelain crowns are used to restore damaged teeth rather than strengthen them, they are often more in demand from patients who wish an aesthetic restoration.

A dental crown will replace any old filling material. Your tooth will be stronger because it is protected against further damage. This could be a great choice for individuals who have had a root canal and want to avoid having more extensive work done in the future. Crowns are also able to be used on cosmetic or damaged teeth due to cracks or chips.

A dental crown, or inlay, may be suitable to anyone, even children. It’s very painless. Our dentist will examine your mouth and create a crown that can be worn after a week based on the impressions you provide. You might also receive a temporary crown while your permanent one is being created.

The dentist may suggest a dental bridge if a tooth cannot be restored with a crown. A bridge can be used to replace missing teeth or repair facial structure. It may also improve your bite. Although there are many types of bridges, they all include crowns placed on either side of the missing tooth or teeth, with a “pontic” (false tooth) placed between the anchoring teeth, also known as abutment teeth. This is also how our dentist creates false teeth.

The bridge replaces each tooth in the area where one or more of your teeth are missing. Bridges can be placed after you’ve had your remaining teeth removed (such as during a dental implant procedure) or after you’ve lost teeth due to periodontal disease or injury.

Dental implants

A dental implant is a surgical fixture inserted into the jawbone. The bone will connect to the implant over the next few months. The dental implant acts as a substitute for the root of a lost tooth. In turn, this “artificial tooth root” supports a replacement tooth or bridge.

Attached to the bone, a dental crown is a permanent tooth that can be used to replace a missing tooth. “Osseointegration,” is the integration between dental implants and jawbones.

Majority of dental implants are made out of titanium. They can become part and parcel of the body without being recognised as foreign objects. Technology and study have advanced over time to improve dental implant placement outcomes considerably.

Dental implants can replace any number of teeth, including all or some. Dental implants are used to replace teeth.

Implants are the best option for people who have lost their teeth or can’t maintain healthy oral health due to missing or removed teeth.

Many dentists near Palisades Point offer dental implants. But not all implants are created equal.

PubMed.gov claims that there are more than 220 different implant brands. They have been produced by over 80 manufacturers. The implant materials vary, have different surface treatments, come in different forms, sizes and shapes. The dentist can in theory choose among more than 2,000 implants in a given patient treatment situation. Implants made from titanium, titanium alloys and other titanium materials perform well clinically in properly prepared bone. Many surface treatments are currently being used to improve the ability to anchor the implant more quickly into bone. Many manufacturers make claims about superiority based on design characteristics. However, these claims are not supported by long-term clinical research. Some implant sales are made in parts of the World without demonstrating compliance to international standards.

At Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental, we ensure that you get the very best quality standards available in modern implant technology. To find out if implant technology is right for you, give us a call.

Dentures

Dentures, whether full or partial tend to be a more affordable option compared to implants (depending on the case).

The devices used to replace missing or damaged teeth are called dentures. They are removable appliances that can support or alter the color or shape your gums and lips.

Healthy gums are necessary to hold dentures in place. Bridges can be used to replace missing teeth. Dental implants or dentures [may be used to replace missing teeth].

Different types include:

* Traditional complete full dentures

* Partial dentures

* Custom dentures

* Intermediate (between partials & full) denture

* Snap-in dentures

* Snap-on dentures

* Overdentures [which are] used in combination with dental implants. [1]

Traditional full denture: This is the most durable and cost-effective type of full denture.

Your dentist will take an impression of your gums and teeth.

The metal frame supports the wire clasps that hold the roof or palate in place.

Partial denture: This is a temporary partial denture that can be used when only a few of your teeth are left.

The clasps attach to the remaining dentures to fix partial dentures.

It is most often worn as an orthodontic retainer. However, it can be removed at night or while eating.

Custom denture: The custom denture is made with an impression taken of your upper or below jaw, and then a special material.

It’s designed to fit more securely and comfortably than a standard denture.

Snap-in dentures: Snap-in dentures are held in place by suction, with no need for clasps.

They are considered a “no-prep” alternative to traditional dentures, because they do not need to be relined.

Your dentist will make the snap-in dental dentures in a lab. He or she will first make a plaster cast of your jawline and gums. After that, the denture is fitted inside your mouth.

After learning how to adjust and insert your denture yourself, you will no longer need to visit the dentist for adjustments.

Overdentures: An overdenture is a “fixed” partial denture that eventually gets attached to dental implants for support.

Implant-supported overdentures are usually more stable and secure than other partial dentures because they rest on top of implants.

An implant-supported dental overdenture has two parts. It consists of a metal frame that snaps onto dental implant posts and a replacement or additional tooth attached to that frame.

Overdentures are typically made in a dental laboratory. Technicians use molds (molds), of your jaw and gums to create the device.

Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental provides dentures to patients in the Palisades Point. We’ll collaborate with you in designing the most functional, attractive and affordable dentures for your full- or partial teeth.
