Dental exams

Our dentist will inspect the mouth for signs and symptoms that may indicate pain or discomfort. We’ll also check the teeth for any signs that they may need to be treated. We will also check for other issues that could affect the patient’s dental health.

In addition to checking the patient’s teeth, we also check for any signs of problems with their gums. Gum disease can cause tooth loss and other health problems. We do this by placing a periodontal probe in between each of the patient’s teeth and feeling how deep it goes. This allows us determine the amount of gum tissue between each tooth. We also check for inflammation and bleeding.

To check if the patient has a problem with their jaw, we will place the mirror on top of the patient’s mouth and move the mirror around to get a complete view of the inside and teeth. We want them to be healthy and not have any problems in their mouths.

We may also use radiographs or take x-rays to look for decay. If this is not detected quickly, it can cause severe pain. You may also discover cavities close to your gum line. This needs to be treated as soon as possible to avoid a larger problem.

Children’s dentist

Teeth decay and cavities in children can happen at any age. Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental recommends your child visit Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental for their first dental appointment at 18 months or younger. We can ensure that there aren’t any structural or overbite issues. Your child’s first teeth could last a lifetime, if properly maintained and treated. We recommend that they be seen at least twice annually to make sure they don’t have any serious issues.

Before our team of highly skilled dentist professionals begin the adolescent oral examination, we will ensure that your child is comfortable and relaxed. We’ll talk to your kid throughout the appointment and explain what’s happening so they can participate in the process. The child will be assisted to relax in one or more of our comfortable treatment chairs. The basic oral exam will be followed by an xray.

After this, we will talk with you about your child’s dental health and give a recommendation on how to protect the teeth they have remaining.

We recommend that you establish healthy habits as soon as possible. This will help to ensure your child’s teeth are strong and free from any potential problems. To protect your child’s teeth, you may need to use dental sealants or fluoride treatment. If we detect a problem, we will develop a customized treatment plan that ensures your child’s safety and comfort. We will accommodate any special requests such as music playing during an appointment or providing a child-friendly distraction.

We are happy to see your smiley faces and hope to keep them healthy for many more years.

Teeth Cleaning

A dental hygienist cleans teeth, performs scaling and polishing, removes plaque and calculus from patient’s teeth.

Dental hygienists work closely with patients. They are responsible for the cleaning of teeth.

We clean patients’ teeth using different types of tools and water sprays. Some may even use special toothpaste. You can use many different kinds of tools, such as brushes, drills and scrapers. They also polish patients’ teeth using special polishing products and disks. It is crucial to remove all plaque, calculus, and tartar from patients’ teeth before scaling and polishing can commence.

The latest equipment in hygiene allows for quicker and more comfortable cleaning. An ultrasonic cleaning device, for example, uses high-speed vibrations to remove dirt and a lubricating oil to do the same. You can also use handheld instruments like a curette and scaler to clean smaller pieces of plaque. For optimal dental health, a dental hygienist may recommend you return every six months for teeth cleaning.

In order to prevent gum diseases, the dental hygienist must clean out tartar and plaque off patients’ teeth. Patients who don’t have regular dental visits may experience gum disease or tooth decay. We do our best to make regular visits to the dentist as simple as possible for all members of the family.

Wisdom tooth extraction

Wisdom tooth extraction refers to the surgical removal one or more wisdom teeth. These are permanent adult teeth that rest at the back end of your mouth. A wisdom tooth may be extracted by a dentist or an oral surgeon.

Wisdom tooth extraction is recommended by some dentists and or surgeons even if there are no problems. It is possible to predict problems by having regular checkups or x-rays.

A wisdom tooth extraction refers to a surgical procedure that removes a wisdom tooth. It can be performed due to numerous complications like:

  • Wisdom tooth with an impact

  • Angled towards the adjacent tooth or back of your jaw

  • Stuck in jaw bone

  • Pain becomes a source of discomfort

  • Periodontal disease is caused by this.

  • Causes decay in neighboring tooth due to trapped food

  • Cyst formation in the wisdom tooth

  • Interferes With Orthodontic Treatment

In most cases patients are given local anesthetic to numb the area and a sedative to relax them so they won’t feel any pain.

Oral Sedation might be used in the rare case where patients are extremely anxious.

If the procedure is straightforward, you can return home the same day. But you will need to have someone drive you and be there for 24 hours.

It is possible to return to work after wisdom tooth removal, but you should avoid strenuous activity for at most two or three days.

While many dental offices can remove wisdom teeth, there are some cases that require an oral surgeon to treat moderately impacted wisdom teeth. At Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental, our dentist is also a top oral surgeon so you will not need to be referred out.

Laser Dentistry

The practice of dental lasers is the use of lasers to treat a wide range of oral diseases. It was first commercially available in 1989 for the treatment of tooth tissue.

Laser dentistry is a less painful option than drills and other non laser equipment.

Hard tissue and soft tissue are the main types of laser dentistry. Hard tissue refers only to the teeth and soft tissue to the gums. Lasers can be used to cut (ablation), vaporize (excited plasma) or remove decay. The laser energy is absorbed into the cells, causing them to rapidly evaporate when applied to the gums.

At first, dentists treated only hard tissue because it was believed that lasers could not treat soft tissue. So laser dentistry has been around for some time, but just not applied to gum treatment until recently.

Scientists have discovered the absorption wavelengths of lasers are not the same for all tissues or applications. You can use the wavelengths in nm to determine which laser is suitable for your application. There are many types of lasers available.

The need for sutures is reduced with soft tissue lasers. The laser stimulates blood clotting, which reduces bleeding in soft tissues. Anesthesia may not be necessary for some treatments. Laser’s antibacterial effects reduce the chance of developing bacterial infections. Wounds heal faster and tissue regeneration is possible. These procedures can cause less discomfort than traditional treatments.

There are some downsides to soft-tissue procedures. The light from the laser is absorbed by water within the cells. This causes them to evaporate quickly, leading to pain and decreased elasticity of the gum tissue. Remember that laser light is only used to treat hard tissue procedures. Stray beams could cause tissue damage during soft tissue procedures.

To see if laser dentistry is right for you, call us today to schedule an exam. We’re one of the top dental clinics offering specialized laser treatments near Ridgeview Ranch.

Tooth White Fillings

Nowadays, you can choose from platinum or other fillings instead of silver and gold. The high-strength, natural-looking fillings known as amalgam fillings can be placed today rather than silver or gold (also known as composite resin fillers).

Composite fillings have become the preferred filling material. Composite fillings blend with the natural tooth color and are attached to the tooth by a bonding agent. This prevents them falling off. Composite fillings can last longer than traditional silver or gold fillings.

Composite resin is used to make white fillings. It can easily be color-matched with your natural teeth, so it’s almost invisible. Composite tooth-colored restorations are bonded to the tooth instead of sitting on top of it, like gold and silver fillings. You are far less likely to have a composite filling fall out, which can be a problem with gold fillings. Tooth-colored fillings can be more easily detected than silver. They are more durable, less likely break or crack and they are virtually invisible.

Since composite tooth-colored filling material remains bonded to the tooth it is fixed into, your oral health does not depend upon the adhesive joining of two dissimilar materials. This allows composite fillings to be stronger and last longer than any other type of fillings.

Tooth-colored fillings are also available to repair broken-down molars. These molars are more susceptible to breaking because they lack the natural chewing force that provides support to the teeth in your front. Tooth colored filling material is strong enough to restore a fractured molar, and is therefore a better choice for restoring your chewing ability.

Tooth-colored fillings can be made out of ceramic materials that are also used for crowns, which have the compressive strength to tooth enamel. They bond well to both tooth enamel and composite resin, in addition to being strong.

Call Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental to see if you’re a good candidate for composite resin fillings. This is a modern filling that we offer in our Ridgeview Ranch office.

Sedation dentistry

Sedation dentistry makes it possible for your dentist to perform complex dental procedures without any difficulty. This involves putting the patient in a sleep-like state using medication. It is also known by sleep dentistry.

Minimal Sedation is the lightest level of sedation, ranging from a state akin to being awake to one that is almost unconscious. It is used to allow the patient to relax and be comfortable. The primary purpose of nitrous oxide is to reduce fear in the patient. To achieve this goal, a mask or facepiece similar to a clear plastic bag is used to administer it.

Moderate sedation is used to promote relaxation and sleep during treatment. It may be combined with Nitrous Oxide, or laughing gas. However, the medication used to achieve this level of sedation may be administered by injection or intravenously through a drip in your arm.

Deep Sedation is a form of sedation where the patient is often unaware of what’s happening and must be monitored by trained staff. This type of sedation is used for severe surgical procedures and trauma cases.

Anaesthesia is the strongest form of dental sedation. It doesn’t allow the patient feel any pain and leaves them completely unaware. The patient must remain immobile and be monitored by trained staff. This method of sedation is reserved for serious dental treatment such as the extraction of a large number of teeth, complicated oral surgery and extensive root canal work. However, this level of sedation requires you to stay in the dental clinic under observation for longer than any other form of sedation.

Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental provides all levels of sedation dentistry within Ridgeview Ranch.

Root canal treatment

Endodontic treatment, also known as a root canal, is a procedure that involves saving a diseased tooth by eradicating the infection and preventing further harm. Painkillers are often prescribed for toothaches. The truth is that this doesn’t work. Long-term anti-inflammatory medication can lead to kidney problems and cause permanent damage.

Root canal treatment on the other side eliminates the infection. Root canal treatment is very simple, but it can take multiple sessions.

Endodontic treatment can be performed in as little as two to three sessions. You will not feel any pain when we apply local anesthesia. Dental xrays can help to diagnose the tooth that is infected.

We will clean and seal your tooth to keep germs out. The composite will then be used to fill the tooth. A dental crown may be used in certain cases to enhance protection.

Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental offers endodontic services to patients in Ridgeview Ranch for many years.

Crowns and Bridges

A crown is a restoration technique that strengthens or improves teeth. It is essentially a crown that covers a tooth to restore its shape, size, strength, or appearance.

There are many options for dental crowns. They can be made from ceramics, porcelain or resin. The degree of decay on the tooth and its physical properties determine the material to be used. The material options for crowns vary depending on whether they are full ceramic or porcelain.

Porcelain crowns can be used to cover large or complex root canals. They can also be used to cover teeth that have been damaged by cracks or chips. Since the treatment is primarily used to restore a damaged tooth rather than strengthen it, porcelain crowns often have a higher demand among patients who want an aesthetic restoration.

The dental crown replaces the old filling material. It will make your tooth stronger and protect it from further damage. If you have recently had a root canal, this could be an excellent option to save money in the long-term. Crowns can also be used on cosmetic teeth that have been damaged or compromised due to chips or cracks.

An inlay or crown on a tooth may be suitable for everyone, even children. It’s very painless. The impressions taken by you will be used to create a crown which can be fitted after one week. While you wait for your permanent crown to be completed, you may also get a temporary crown.

The dentist might recommend a bridge if a tooth is too damaged to be crowned. A bridge can be used to replace missing teeth or repair facial structure. It may also improve your bite. There are many types of bridges. They all consist of crowns that are placed on either side or both of the missing teeth. A “pontic”, also called an abutment tooth, is placed between the anchoring and false teeth. The dentist also makes these false teeth in his office.

The bridge replaces each tooth in the area where one or more of your teeth are missing. Bridges may be used after you’ve had any remaining teeth removed (such a during a dentist’s implant procedure) or after your teeth have been lost due to periodontal disease.

Dental implants

A dental implant is a surgical fixture inserted into the jawbone. The bone will connect to the implant over the next few months. Dental implants are used to replace the root of a damaged tooth. This “artificial root tooth” then supports a bridge or replacement tooth.

An attached dental implant to the jawbone looks like a natural tooth. It stands alone and is stable. “Osseointegration,” is the integration between dental implants and jawbones.

Most dental implants are made of titanium. This allows them to be integrated into the body and not be recognized as foreign objects. The technology and research have improved the outcomes of dental implant placements.

Dental implants can replace any number of teeth, including all or some. The purpose of dental implant dentistry is to restore functionality and beauty.

For those who have lost or cannot take care of their oral health because of missing or extracted teeth, dental implants may be the best option.

Many dentists near Ridgeview Ranch offer dental implants. But not all implants are created equal.

PubMed.gov reports that more than 220 implant brand names have been identified. These brands are produced by approximately 80 manufacturers. Different materials are used to make implants. The surface treatments vary and the shapes and sizes of the implants can be different. The dentist may choose from over 2000 implants for any given patient. Implants made of titanium or titanium alloys perform clinically well in surgically prepared bone. To increase the anchorage speed of the implant into the bone, various surface treatments have been developed. A large number of manufacturers’ claims regarding superiority due to design characteristics do not reflect sound clinical scientific research. Implants are, in some parts of the world, manufactured and sold with no demonstration of adherence to any international standards.

Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental ensures that you have the best possible quality in implant technology. We can help you decide if implants might be right for your needs.

Dentures

In most cases, dentures, either partial or complete are cheaper than implants.

Dentures, also known as false teeth, are devices that replace missing teeth. These are removable appliances that support and change the shape or color of your gums, lips, and mouth.

To keep dentures in place, healthy gums are essential. You can replace missing teeth with a bridge that is permanently fixed. Dentures or dental implants [may be used for the replacement of missing teeth].

Different types include:

* Traditional complete full dentures

* Partial dentures

* Custom dentures

* Intermediate (between partials and full) denture

* Snap-in dentures

* Snap-on dentures

* Overdentures [which are] used in combination with dental implants. [1]

Traditional complete denture: Also known as standard or conventional fixed full, the traditional complete denture is the most durable, cost-effective, and long-lasting type of full dental work.

It is made by your dentist with an impression of the gums and teeth on each side of your mouth .

The roof or palate is built up with a metal framework that supports the wire clasps used to hold it in place.

Partial denture. A partial denture also known as a “temporary part denture” is when you have some teeth left.

The clasps attach to the remaining dentures to fix partial dentures.

It’s worn most of the time as an orthodontic retainer. But, sometimes, it can be taken out at night and while you eat.

Custom denture: A custom-made denture is one that is made using an impression of the upper or lower jaw and a special material.

It is more secure and comfortable than a normal denture.

Snap-in dentures – Snap-in dentures can be held in place with suction. No clasps are required.

They are considered a “no-prep” alternative to traditional dentures, because they do not need to be relined.

Your dentist will create your snap-in dentures by making a plaster mold of your jaw and gums. Then, the denture will be fitted inside your mouth to ensure it fits perfectly.

You won’t have to visit your dentist again after you learn how to adjust and place the denture.

Overdentures: An “fixed” partial denture which eventually attaches to dental implants.

An implant-supported partial denture is more secure because it rests on top implants.

An implant-supported, overdenture is made of two parts. The metal frame snaps onto the dental posts and the replacement tooth or teeth are attached to it.

Overdentures usually are made in dental laboratories. There, technicians use molds (molds), to model your jaw and gums.

Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental, a leading provider of dentures near Ridgeview Ranch, is the best. We’ll work with your to ensure that you get the most cost-effective, functional and attractive partial or complete dentures.
