Dental exams

Our dentist will examine the patient’s mouth to determine if there are any signs of pain or discomfort. To determine if any teeth need to be repaired, we will also inspect them. We’ll also look for any other dental problems that may affect the patient’s oral health.

In addition to checking the patient’s teeth, we also check for any signs of problems with their gums. Gum disease can cause many health problems and even lead to tooth loss. This is vital because it can cause other health issues. By placing a periodontal probe between each of the patients’ teeth, we can feel how deep the tissue goes. This gives us an indication of how much gum tissue has been removed between the teeth. We will also be looking for signs of bleeding or inflammation.

To determine if there is any problem with the patient’s jaw, we will place an eye mirror on top and move it around. This will allow us to view the inside of their mouth. We want to make sure their teeth are healthy and that there are no problems with the surrounding muscles.

We can also take radiographs or Xrays for many reasons. One reason is to check the very back for tooth decay. If it isn’t detected early, this can lead to pain. Sometimes, cavities may be found very close to the gum line and need to treated quickly to prevent them from becoming a bigger problem.

Pediatric dentistry

Teeth decay and cavities in children can happen at any age. Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental recommends that your child’s first visit is made when they are at least 18 months of age. This will allow us to check for any structural or overbite problems. Because your child’s primary teeth might last a lifetime (if cared for and treated), we recommend bringing them in at least twice a year to ensure there aren’t any major issues.

Before the team of experienced dental professionals starts the adolescent exam, we will ensure your child is at ease and secure. We will talk to your child throughout the appointment, explaining what is happening and how they can take part in it. They will be assisted in relaxing in one of our pleasant and comfortable treatment seats. After a basic exam, an x-ray will be taken.

We will then talk to you about your child’s dental health, and make a recommendation for how to preserve the remaining teeth.

We recommend that your child establish healthy habits early on. They will help ensure that his or her teeth stay strong and prevent any problems later. Your child may benefit from dental sealants and fluoride treatment. Our staff will determine if there is a problem and develop a plan to fix it. We may be able to accommodate any special requests you might make, such a play of music during the appointment, or a diversion that is child-friendly.

We are happy to see your smiley faces and hope to keep them healthy for many more years.

Teeth Cleaning

A dental hygienist cleans teeth, performs scaling and polishing, removes plaque and calculus from patient’s teeth.

Dental hygienists must be in close contact to patients. They must be knowledgeable about their job as they are responsible to clean the teeth.

We use different kinds of instruments, water sprays and special toothpaste to clean our patients’ teeth. Instruments include many different types of brushes, drills, scrapers etc. They also polish patient’s teeth with special polishing solution and disks. It is crucial to remove all plaque, calculus, and tartar from patients’ teeth before scaling and polishing can commence.

Modern hygienic equipment is used to provide faster and more comfortable cleaning. Our ultrasonic cleaning equipment uses high-speed vibrations combined with a lubricating spray in order to gently remove any debris. You can also use handheld instruments like a curette and scaler to clean smaller pieces of plaque. For optimal dental health, a dental hygienist may recommend you return every six months for teeth cleaning.

Gum disease is preventable by dental hygienists removing tartar and plaque from patient teeth. The patient could suffer from gum disease and tooth decay if they do not perform this treatment regularly. Our goal is to make regular dental appointments as easy for everyone.

Wisdom tooth extraction

Wisdom tooth extraction involves the surgical removal or replacement of one or more wisdom tooth. A dentist or an oral surgeon may perform a wisdom tooth extraction.

Oral surgeons and dentists recommend wisdom tooth extraction, even if the impacted teeth aren’t causing any problems. This is to prevent future complications. Regular checkups are important to detect potential problems and allow for x-rays.

A wisdom tooth removal is a surgical procedure used to remove a wisdom teeth. There are many complications that can occur, including:

  • Impacted wisdom teeth

  • Angled towards the neighboring tooth or back side of jaw

  • You are stuck in your jaw bone

  • It becomes a source for pain

  • Periodontal disease can result.

  • Trapped food can cause decay in neighboring teeth

  • Development of cysts around wisdom tooth

  • Interferes orthodontist treatment

In most cases patients are given local anesthetic to numb the area and a sedative to relax them so they won’t feel any pain.

In rare cases where patients are very anxious, oral sedation may be advised instead.

If the procedure is straightforward, you can return home the same day. But you will need to have someone drive you and be there for 24 hours.

The day following wisdom tooth extraction you can return to work, but it is best to avoid strenuous activities for at least two to three additional days.

Although many dentists can remove wisdom, some situations may require the intervention of an oral surgeon. Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental has a highly skilled oral surgeon who can perform wisdom teeth removals.

Laser Dentistry

Dental lasers can be used to treat many oral diseases. The first commercial use of lasers in clinical dentistry was for treatment of tooth tissue.

Laser dentistry can be more comfortable than non-laser equipment and drills for treating a wide range of hard and soft tissue conditions.

Two main types are used in laser dentistry: hard tissue procedures and soft tissue procedures. Hard tissue refers to the teeth, and soft tissue refers to the gums. Lasers can be used to cut (ablation), vaporize (excited plasma) or remove decay. Laser energy can be used to quickly evaporate water from the cells of the gums when used on them.

Because lasers were not able to treat soft tissue, the dentists initially only treated hard tissue. Laser dentistry is a technology that has been in use for some time. However, it was not widely used until recent times to treat gum disease.

Scientists have found that the highest absorption wavelengths of lasers vary for different tissues and applications. To determine which laser is best for a given job, the wavelengths can be measured in nm. You can choose from a variety of lasers.

The need for sutures is reduced with soft tissue lasers. The laser stimulates blood clotting, which reduces bleeding in soft tissues. Anesthesia may not be necessary for some treatments. Laser’s antibacterial effects reduce the chance of developing bacterial infections. The laser’s antibacterial action speeds wound healing and encourages tissue regeneration. These procedures are less painful than traditional treatments.

There are disadvantages to soft tissue procedures. Laser light is absorbed in water cells, causing them to evaporate quickly. This causes pain and loss of elasticity for the gum tissues. Remember that laser light is only used to treat hard tissue procedures. For soft tissue procedures there is a risk of damage to surrounding tissues because of stray beams.

Tooth White Fillings

There are other options available today, including platinum, which is a better choice than gold and silver fillings. Amalgam fillings, also known as composite resin fillers, are stronger and more natural-looking than silver and gold.

Composite fillings are the current preferred filling material. Composite fillings are made to match your natural teeth color. They attach to the tooth with a bonding agent to prevent them from falling out. Composite fillings are often preferred over gold and silver fillings due to their durability.

Composite resin is used to make white fillings. It can easily be color-matched with your natural teeth, so it’s almost invisible. Composite tooth-colored dental fillings adhere to the tooth rather than sitting on top, as silver and gold fillings. Composite fillings are much less likely than gold to break or fall out. Tooth-colored fillings can be more easily detected than silver. They are more durable, less likely break or crack and they are virtually invisible.

Since composite tooth-colored filling material remains bonded to the tooth it is fixed into, your oral health does not depend upon the adhesive joining of two dissimilar materials. This allows composite fillings to be stronger and last longer than any other type of fillings.

Tooth-colored fillings are also available to repair broken-down molars. These molars are more susceptible to breaking because they lack the natural chewing force that provides support to the teeth in your front. Tooth colored fillings can restore fractured molars and are therefore better for restoring chewing ability.

Tooth colored fillings can be made from ceramic materials that are also used in crowns-a material with the compressive strength of tooth enamel. They bond well to both tooth enamel and composite resin, in addition to being strong.

Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental will assess your eligibility for composite resin fillings. This is a modern filling that we offer in our Wade Crossing office.

Sedation dentistry

Sedation dentistry makes it possible for your dentist to perform complex dental procedures without any difficulty. It involves the use of medication to put the patient in a state of sleep. This is also called sleep dentistry.

Minimal Sedation is the lightest level of sedation, ranging from a state akin to being awake to one that is almost unconscious. It is used to allow the patient to relax and be comfortable. It is used to alleviate any fears that patients may have. To do this, nitrous Oxide (or laughing gas), is administered through a mask.

Moderate sedation is designed to induce relaxation and sleep during dental treatments. It is often combined with Nitrous Oxide (or laughing gas). This medication can be administered intravenously via a drip or injection to your arm.

At Deep Sedation, the patient is usually unaware of what’s going on and has to be constantly monitored by trained staff. This type of sedation is used for severe surgical procedures and trauma cases.

Anaesthesia, the most powerful form of dental sedation, does not allow the patient to feel pain at all, leaving them completely unaware of what’s going on. The patient will be completely incapacitated and need to be closely monitored by trained staff. This method of sedation is reserved for serious dental treatment such as the extraction of a large number of teeth, complicated oral surgery and extensive root canal work. This level of sedation will require you to remain in the clinic for longer periods of time than with any other type of sedation.

Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental, one of the few practices that offer all levels in sedation dental care near Wade Crossing.

Root canal treatment

Endodontic treatment is also known as root canal. It involves saving a damaged tooth and eliminating the infection. Most people take painkillers to relieve a toothache. This is not the best thing for you. In fact, long-term use of antiinflammatory medication can cause damage to your kidneys.

Root canal treatment removes the infection. It’s a very straightforward procedure but may require multiple sittings.

A dentist performs endodontic treatments in two to three sessions. The local anesthesia we use to numb your area is painless. To identify the diseased tooth, dental x-rays may be taken.

We will clean the tooth, seal it and prevent any germs from getting into it during the first session. We will then fill the tooth using composite. To provide protection, a dental Crown may be necessary in some instances.

Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental has been providing endodontic treatments for patients in or around Wade Crossing for years.

Crowns and Bridges

A crown, which is a technique to strengthen or improve the form of teeth, is called a restorative procedure. A crown is basically a cap used to cover a tooth to restore its size and strength. It also enhances its appearance.

Dental crowns are made of a variety materials like ceramics and porcelain as well as stainless steel and precious metals. The degree of decay on the tooth and its physical properties determine the material to be used. The material options for crowns vary depending on whether they are full ceramic or porcelain.

Porcelain crowns can be used to cover large or complex root canals. They can also be used to cover teeth that have been damaged by cracks or chips. Porcelain crowns are more commonly requested by patients who desire an aesthetic restoration, since they are used to strengthen a tooth and not repair it.

The dental crown replaces the old filling material. It will make your tooth stronger and protect it from further damage. This could be a great choice for individuals who have had a root canal and want to avoid having more extensive work done in the future. Crowns can also help with cosmetic issues such as chips and cracks.

A dental inlay or crown may be an option for you. It is very painless. Based on your impressions, our dentist will examine you and make a crown that can fit within a week. While your permanent crown is being made, you might be given a temporary one.

If a tooth is too far gone for a crown, the dentist may suggest a bridge. A bridge can help you replace missing or damaged teeth, correct facial structure, and improve your bite. Although there are many types of bridges, they all include crowns placed on either side of the missing tooth or teeth, with a “pontic” (false tooth) placed between the anchoring teeth, also known as abutment teeth. This false tooth can also be created by our dentist in the office.

The bridge replaces each tooth in the area where one or more of your teeth are missing. Bridges may be used after you’ve had any remaining teeth removed (such a during a dentist’s implant procedure) or after your teeth have been lost due to periodontal disease.

Dental implants

Dental implants are a surgical fixture that is placed into the jawbone. It is then allowed to attach with the bone in a few months. The dental implant acts as a substitute for the root of a lost tooth. This “artificial root tooth” then supports a bridge or replacement tooth.

A dental implant that is attached to the jawbone is similar to a natural tooth in that it stands on its own and has excellent stability. “Osseointegration” is the integration of dental implants and jawbones.

Most dental implants are made of titanium. This allows them to be integrated into the body and not be recognized as foreign objects. Over time, technology and studies have made it possible to greatly improve the results of dental implant placement.

Dental implants may be used to replace one, several, or all of a patient’s teeth. The goal of dentistry’s tooth replacement is to restore both functionality and attractiveness.

Individuals who have lost or cannot maintain healthy oral hygiene due to missing or extracted teeth are best served by dental implants.

Many dentists near Wade Crossing offer dental implants. All implants are not created equal.

According to PubMed.gov, More than 220 implant brands have been identified, produced by about 80 manufacturers. The implants are made from different materials, undergo different surface treatments and come in different shapes, lengths, widths and forms. The dentist can in theory choose among more than 2,000 implants in a given patient treatment situation. Implants made from titanium and titanium alloys appear to perform well clinically in properly surgically prepared bone, regardless of small variations of shapes and forms. To increase the anchorage speed of the implant into the bone, various surface treatments have been developed. A large number of manufacturers’ claims regarding superiority due to design characteristics do not reflect sound clinical scientific research. Some implant sales are made in parts of the World without demonstrating compliance to international standards.

Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental ensures that you have the best possible quality in implant technology. We can help you decide if implants might be right for your needs.

Dentures

Implants are more expensive than dentures (depending on what case it is). Dentures, partial or full, tend to be cheaper than implants.

The devices used to replace missing or damaged teeth are called dentures. They are removable appliances that can support or alter the color or shape your gums and lips.

Dentures must be held in place by healthy gums. A bridge is a fixed solution to replace missing teeth. Dental implants or dentures [may be used to replace missing teeth].

You can choose from:

* Traditional complete full dentures

* Partial dentures

* Custom dentures

* Intermediate (between partials and full) denture

* Snap-in dentures

* Snap-on dentures

* Overdentures [which are] used in combination with dental implants. [1]

Traditional complete denture: Also known as standard or conventional fixed full, the traditional complete denture is the most durable, cost-effective, and long-lasting type of full dental work.

It is created by your dentist from an impression taken of the gums or teeth on each of your cheeks.

The metal frame supports the wire clasps that hold the roof or palate in place.

Partial denture: A partial denture, also known as a “temporary partial denture,” is used when some of your teeth remain.

Clasps attach to the remaining tooth teeth to keep partial dentures in their place.

It is most often worn as an orthodontic retainer. However, it can be removed at night or while eating.

Custom denture: The custom denture is made with an impression taken of your upper or below jaw, and then a special material.

It is more secure and comfortable than a normal denture.

Snap-in dentures: Snap-in dentures are held in place by suction, with no need for clasps.

They can be used as a no-prep alternative to traditional teeth because they don’t need to have their lines relined.

Your dentist will make snap-in dentures for you in a dental lab. This involves taking a plaster of your jaw, gums and then fitting the denture into your mouth to make sure it is a perfect fit.

You won’t have to visit your dentist again after you learn how to adjust and place the denture.

Overdentures (or overdentures): An overdenture can be a “fixed” partial denture, which is attached to dental Implants for support.

Implant-supported overdentures are usually more stable and secure than other partial dentures because they rest on top of implants.

An implant-supported overdenture is composed of two parts: a metal frame that snaps onto the dental implant posts and a replacement tooth or teeth attached to that frame.

Overdentures can be made in a dental clinic. The technicians will use models (molds), which are scanned of your jaw, gums and teeth to create the appliance.

Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental, a leading provider of dentures near Wade Crossing, is the best. We’ll work with your to ensure that you get the most cost-effective, functional and attractive partial or complete dentures.
