Dental exams

During a comprehensive dental exam, the dentist will assess whether or not there are signs that the patient is experiencing pain. To determine if any teeth need to be repaired, we will also inspect them. We’ll also look for any other dental problems that may affect the patient’s oral health.

We will inspect the patient’s teeth and also examine any signs or symptoms that may indicate problems with their gums. Gum disease can lead other health problems, and may even cause tooth death. We do this by placing a periodontal probe in between each of the patient’s teeth and feeling how deep it goes. This allows us to determine how much gum tissue remains between each tooth. We will also be looking for signs of bleeding or inflammation.

To check if the patient has a problem with their jaw, we will place the mirror on top of the patient’s mouth and move the mirror around to get a complete view of the inside and teeth. We want to check that their teeth and muscles are in good health.

There are many reasons why we may take radiographs or X-rays, but the main reason is to check for decay in the back of your mouth. This can cause pain if it’s not found early on. We may also find cavities very close to the gum line that need to be treated soon before they become a bigger problem.

Children’s dentistry

Children can have tooth decay and cavities at any age, even as soon as two years old. Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental suggests that children bring their child in for their first appointment when they’re 18 months or younger to ensure that there aren’t any overbite or structural issues. Your child’s primary teeth can last a lifetime if they are properly cared for. We recommend that you bring them in twice a year to make sure there are no major problems.

We will make sure your child feels secure and at ease before our team of skilled dental professionals begins the adolescent dental examination. We will talk to your child throughout the appointment, explaining what is happening and how they can take part in it. We will assist them in relaxing in one our comfy treatment seats. After a basic exam, an x-ray will be taken.

After this, we will talk with you about your child’s dental health and give a recommendation on how to protect the teeth they have remaining.

Healthy habits are important for your child’s health. They will ensure that their teeth remain strong and prevent future problems. For your child’s protection, it may be a good idea to apply dental sealants or fluoride treatments. If our staff detects a problem, we’ll develop a customized cure plan that takes your kid’s greatest care and comfort into account. We will accommodate any special requests such as music playing during an appointment or providing a child-friendly distraction.

We love to see the smiles on your kids’ faces when they visit our office. We look forward to helping them stay healthy for many years!

Teeth Cleanings

A dental hygienist is a professional who cleans teeth, scales and polishes patients’ teeth, and removes plaque and calculus.

Dental hygienists must be in close contact to patients. They need to know their job very well because they are responsible for the teeth cleaning process.

We clean patients’ teeth using different types of tools and water sprays. Some may even use special toothpaste. You can use many different kinds of tools, such as brushes, drills and scrapers. The instruments can also be used to polish the teeth using special polishing solutions and disks. Before scaling and polishing can begin, it is essential to clean out all plaque and calculus.

Modern hygienic equipment is used to provide faster and more comfortable cleaning. We use an ultrasonic cleaner that uses high speed vibrations and a spray of lubricating fluid to gently remove the debris. You can also use handheld instruments like a curette and scaler to clean smaller pieces of plaque. For optimal dental health, a dental hygienist may recommend you return every six months for teeth cleaning.

In order to prevent gum diseases, the dental hygienist must clean out tartar and plaque off patients’ teeth. Patients who don’t have regular dental visits may experience gum disease or tooth decay. That’s why we do our best to make regular dental visits as easy as possible for the whole family.

Wisdom tooth extraction

Wisdom tooth extraction refers to the surgical removal one or more wisdom teeth. These are permanent adult teeth that rest at the back end of your mouth. A wisdom tooth extraction can be performed by either an oral surgeon, dentist, or both.

Wisdom tooth extraction is recommended by some dentists and or surgeons even if there are no problems. Checkups and x-rays can help to identify potential issues.

A wisdom tooth removal is a surgical procedure used to remove a wisdom teeth. There are many complications that can occur, including:

  • Impacted wisdom tooth

  • Angled towards neighboring teeth or back of jaw

  • You are stuck in your jaw bone

  • Pain becomes a source of discomfort

  • Periodontal disease may develop.

  • Causes decay in neighboring tooth due to trapped food

  • Cyst formation in the wisdom tooth

  • Interferes orthodontic treatment

Most patients receive a local anesthetic to numb their area and a sedative for relaxation to relieve any pain.

Oral sedation is sometimes recommended in cases of extreme anxiety.

If the procedure is straightforward, you can return home the same day. But you will need to have someone drive you and be there for 24 hours.

Your wisdom tooth extraction should allow you to return to work on the same day, however strenuous activities should be avoided over the next two to three days.

Although many dentists can remove wisdom, some situations may require the intervention of an oral surgeon. Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental has a highly skilled oral surgeon who can perform wisdom teeth removals.

Laser Dentistry

Lasers are used in the treatment of a wide variety of oral diseases. For the treatment of tooth tissues, clinical dentistry adopted it commercially in 1989.

Laser dentistry is a less painful option than drills and other non laser equipment.

The two main types of procedures used for laser dentistry are hard tissue and soft tissue procedures. Hard tissue refers only to the teeth and soft tissue to the gums. Lasers can be used to cut (ablation), vaporize (excited plasma) or remove decay. The laser energy is absorbed into the cells, causing them to rapidly evaporate when applied to the gums.

Because lasers were not able to treat soft tissue, the dentists initially only treated hard tissue. Laser dentistry has been around for a while, but only recently was it applied to gum treatments.

Scientists have found that the highest absorption wavelengths of lasers vary for different tissues and applications. For determining which laser is right for an application, you can use wavelengths in the nm range. Different types of lasers are available in this regard.

There is less need for sutures with soft tissue lasers. Treatments of soft tissue lasers reduce bleeding because the laser stimulates clotting. In some cases, anesthesia may not even be required. Because of the laser’s antibacterial action, there is less chance of getting bacterial infections. The laser’s antibacterial effect speeds up wound healing and allows for tissue regeneration. The procedures may cause less discomfort. The patient’s recovery time is faster than with traditional treatment methods.

However, with soft tissue procedures there are some disadvantages that must be considered. Laser light is absorbed by water in the cells causing them to evaporate rapidly, resulting in pain and lack of elasticity of the gum tissues. Another factor to consider is that with hard tissue procedures, the laser is only applied to the tooth being worked on. Stray beams can cause tissue damage in soft tissues.

To see if laser dentistry is right for you, call us today to schedule an exam. We are one of the best dental clinics near Woodgate that offers specialized laser treatments.

Tooth White Fillings

These days, rather than silver or gold fillings there are many options. Amalgam fillings, also known as composite resin fillers, are stronger and more natural-looking than silver and gold.

Composite fillings today are the most preferred type of filling material. They’re designed to blend in with your teeth’s natural color and are secured to the tooth using a bonding agent that prevents them from falling off. Composite fillings are often preferred over gold and silver fillings due to their durability.

Composite resins with high strength are used to create white fillings. They can be easily colored to match the natural color of your tooth. Composite tooth color fillings that match the tooth’s color actually stick to it. They don’t just sit on top of it like gold or silver. Composite fillings are much less likely than gold to break or fall out. Tooth-colored fillings can be more easily detected than silver. They are more durable, less likely break or crack and they are virtually invisible.

Since composite tooth-colored filling material remains bonded to the tooth it is fixed into, your oral health does not depend upon the adhesive joining of two dissimilar materials. This allows for greater strength, durability, and stability than other types of fillings.

Tooth-colored dental fillings can also help to restore damaged molars. Tooth colored filling material is strong enough to restore a fractured molar, and is therefore a better choice for restoring your chewing ability.

Ceramic materials are used in crowns to create tooth colored fillings. They have the same compressive strength and color as enamel. They are strong and can bond well to tooth enamel as well as to composite resin.

Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental may be able to determine if the candidate is suitable for composite resin restorations. This is a modern filling that we offer in our Woodgate office.

Sedation dentistry

Sedation dentistry allows your dentist to complete any complicated dental procedure without difficulty. It involves the use of medication to put the patient in a state of sleep. This is also called sleep dentistry.

Minimal Sedation refers to the simplest level of sedation. It can range from being awake to almost unconscious. It’s used to help the patient relax and feel comfortable. It is used to calm fears and anxiety. The patient is able to breathe through a mask, or face piece, that is similar to a clear plastic bags.

Moderate sedation is intended to produce a relaxed state and sleep during dental treatment. It can be combined with Nitrous Oxide or laughing gas. However, this medication may be administered intravenously by drip in the arm or via injection.

Deep Sedation is a form of sedation where the patient is often unaware of what’s happening and must be monitored by trained staff. This level of sedation can be used in cases of trauma or extensive surgical procedures.

Anaesthesia is the strongest form of dental sedation. It doesn’t allow the patient feel any pain and leaves them completely unaware. The patient remains immobile and must be closely monitored by trained staff. This method of sedation can be used to treat serious dental issues such as complicated or lengthy root canal surgery, large-scale extractions and complex oral surgery. This level of sedation will require you to remain in the clinic for longer periods of time than with any other type of sedation.

Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental, one of the few practices that offer all levels in sedation dental care near Woodgate.

Root canal treatment

Endodontics, also called a root canal or a root graft, is a treatment that saves a tooth with a decayed tooth. This involves eradicating the infection and preventing any further damage. Painkillers are often prescribed for toothaches. This doesn’t actually help, and taking anti-inflammatory medication long term can be bad for your kidneys and doesn’t address the real issue.

Root canal treatment on the other side eliminates the infection. Although the procedure is simple, it can be quite time-consuming.

Endodontic treatment can be performed in as little as two to three sessions. The local anesthesia we use to numb your area is painless. To identify the diseased tooth, dental x-rays may be taken.

We will clean the tooth and seal it with composite to stop germs from infecting the first session. We will then fill the tooth using composite. For certain cases, we may use a dental crown to provide additional protection.

Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental offers endodontic services to patients in Woodgate for many years.

Crowns and Bridges

A crown is a dental restoration that strengthens and improves the appearance of teeth. A crown is basically a cap used to cover a tooth to restore its size and strength. It also enhances its appearance.

Dental crowns are made of a variety materials like ceramics and porcelain as well as stainless steel and precious metals. The material used is determined by the extent of decay present on the tooth, as well as the physical properties of the material. You can also get crowns in porcelain, full ceramic, or a mixture of metal and porcelain depending upon your requirements.

Porcelain crowns can be used to cover large or complex root canals. These crowns can be used for damaged teeth, such as chips or cracks. Patients looking for aesthetic restorations will often prefer porcelain crowns because they are more used to treat a damaged tooth than to strengthen it.

A dental Crown will replace your existing filling material. This will give your tooth strength and protection from any future damage. This could be a great choice for individuals who have had a root canal and want to avoid having more extensive work done in the future. Crowns are also able to be used on cosmetic or damaged teeth due to cracks or chips.

A dental crown or inlay may be suitable for anyone, including children. It’s painless. A dentist will examine your mouth to determine if you are a good candidate for a crown. Then, he or she will make the necessary adjustments and place it in your mouth. You might also receive a temporary crown while your permanent one is being created.

A bridge may be recommended if the tooth is too far removed for a crown. A bridge is a way to replace missing teeth and correct facial structure. Although there are many types of bridges, they all include crowns placed on either side of the missing tooth or teeth, with a “pontic” (false tooth) placed between the anchoring teeth, also known as abutment teeth. This false tooth can also be created by our dentist in the office.

A bridge replaces one tooth or more that are missing. Bridges are available after your remaining teeth have been removed (such as during a procedure for a dental implant), or after you have lost teeth due either to periodontal disease/injury.

Dental implants

A dental implant is a surgical fixture that is inserted into the jawbone and allowed to connect with the bone over a few months. The dental implant is a substitute for the root a missing tooth. In turn, this “artificial tooth root” supports a replacement tooth or bridge.

Attached to the bone, a dental crown is a permanent tooth that can be used to replace a missing tooth. “Osseointegration,” or the integration of jawbones and dental implants, is what we call it.

Majority of dental implants are made out of titanium. They can become part and parcel of the body without being recognised as foreign objects. The technology and research have improved the outcomes of dental implant placements.

Implants may be used for the replacement of one, several, or all teeth. The goal of dentistry’s tooth replacement is to restore both functionality and attractiveness.

Individuals who have lost or cannot maintain healthy oral hygiene due to missing or extracted teeth are best served by dental implants.

Many dentists near Woodgate offer dental implants. However, not all implants are the same.

According to PubMed.gov, More than 220 implant brands have been identified, produced by about 80 manufacturers. Different materials are used to make implants. The surface treatments vary and the shapes and sizes of the implants can be different. The dentist can in theory choose among more than 2,000 implants in a given patient treatment situation. Implants made from titanium or titanium alloys seem to perform well clinically in correctly surgically prepared bones, regardless of slight variations in shape and form. Different surface treatments are being developed in order to increase the ability of an implant to be anchored into bone more quickly. A lot of the claims made by different manufacturers about superiority because of design characteristics are not supported with long-term clinical scientific research. Implants are, in some parts of the world, manufactured and sold with no demonstration of adherence to any international standards.

At Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental, we ensure that you get the very best quality standards available in modern implant technology. To find out if implant technology is right for you, give us a call.

Dentures

Implants are more expensive than dentures (depending on what case it is). Dentures, partial or full, tend to be cheaper than implants.

The devices used to replace missing or damaged teeth are called dentures. These are removable devices that can change your gums or shade the color of your lips.

To keep dentures in place, healthy gums are essential. Missing teeth may be replaced with a bridge, which is fixed in place. For missing teeth, dentures or dental implants may be used.

There are many types of dentures:

* Traditional complete full dentures

* Partial dentures

* Custom dentures

* Intermediate (between partial and complete) denture

* Snap-in dentures

* Snap-on dentures

* These overdentures can be used in conjunction with dental implants. [1]

Traditional complete denture: Also known as standard or conventional fixed full, the traditional complete denture is the most durable, cost-effective, and long-lasting type of full dental work.

It is created by your dentist from an impression taken of the gums or teeth on each of your cheeks.

The roof or palate is made up of a metal frame that supports the wire clasps.

Partial Denture: When some of your natural teeth are missing, a partial denture (also known as a temporary partial or partial denture) is used.

Cluts attach to remaining teeth to secure partial dentures.

It’s most commonly worn like an orthodontic retainer. You can also take it out when you are eating or at night.

A custom denture: This is a denture that is created from an impression of your upper and lower jaws using a special material.

It’s designed to fit more securely and comfortably than a standard denture.

Snap-ins: Snap-ins can be attached by suction. There is no need to attach clasps.

They can be used as a no-prep alternative to traditional teeth because they don’t need to have their lines relined.

Your dentist will make your snap-in dentures in a dental lab by taking a plaster model of your jaw and gums, then fitting the denture inside your mouth to make sure it’s a perfect fit.

After learning how to adjust and insert your denture yourself, you will no longer need to visit the dentist for adjustments.

Overdentures: An “fixed” partial denture which eventually attaches to dental implants.

An implant-supported partial denture is more secure because it rests on top implants.

Implant-supported overdentures are made up of two parts. A metal frame snaps onto dental implant posts, and a replacement tooth (or teeth) attached to it.

Overdentures can be made in a dental clinic. The technicians will use models (molds), which are scanned of your jaw, gums and teeth to create the appliance.

Bobby Jivnani Plano Dental is a premier provider of dentures for patients near Woodgate. We’ll work with your to ensure that you get the most cost-effective, functional and attractive partial or complete dentures.
