A unique orchestral performance is coming to Plano on April 18th according to a Plano magazine feature from this week. In it they say:

“Storytelling through music! This 45-minute performance features brass quintet, percussion, and professional storyteller Gwen Caldwell exploring how music sets the mood and brings characters to life. Selections will include Frozen and Star Wars as well as well-known classical works to teach kids about the brass and percussion families of the orchestra. Families with children aged 2-12 are sure to enjoy this engaging program!

Seats will be limited, parties will be socially distanced, and masks will be required according to state and local guidelines. We appreciate our patrons help following guidelines and keeping everyone safe while enjoying this unique concert!”

The show will be interactive according to a Local Profile article from April 15th. In it they say:

“For the interactive part of Plano Symphony Orchestra’s concert, Caldwell asks the kids what they think happened based on the music and what it means. In this way, Wheeler said the concert can still be interactive without bringing kids up on the stage as they would normally do. And various instruments, like the trumpet and tuba, are introduced at different points during the concert.

And this kind of concert is unique — aside from Sergei Prokofiev’s “Peter and the Wolf,” there aren’t many concerts that incorporate a storyteller, Wheeler said. ”

Due to the pandemic. seats will be limited, so if you want to catch this show, best get a ticket right away.
