Plano Community Mourns Long-Serving School Crossing Guard, Bob Manus

A long-time crossing guard by the name of Bob Manus has passed away, leaving behind many mourners according to an NBC 5 DFW article from January 22nd. In it they say:

 

“For 16 years, Manus safely walked kids to and from Brinker Elementary in Plano.

Friday, the corner of Clark and Yeary was filled with a sadness felt by parents like Sarah Kissel.

‘He’s a fixture in our community. I think you don’t always realize the people who are in your life every day and do these things for your family. Sometimes you don’t recognize it until something like this happens,’ said parent and PTA president Sarah Kissel.”

 

Manus is yet another victim of Covid-19 according to a Dallas Morning News article from January 25th. In it they say:

“A Plano crossing guard beloved by parents, children and others in the city has died following a weeklong battle with COVID-19, according to published reports.

Bob Manus, who was also known as ‘Mr. Bob,’ was a neighborhood fixture at the corner of Yeary Road and Clark Parkway for 16 years, KXAS-TV (NBC5) reported.”

 

Manus was 79 years old.
